| 683657 | 2008-07-08 01:38:00 | LOL not grumpy, just stating facts. I have to be seen as being pro active and have something firm to tell the dog ranger, to show yes i am doing something, i see or hear from him most days, but alas i cant afford a galvanised dog run for 2, the area where i need to put the dogs is in a triangle shaped area, so i cannot fit all mannaer of kennels. and it is on 2 levels, as it has a retaining wall down one side, so i am limited to what i can do. oh and it doesnt have stairs, so you have to jump or climb up or down. maybe i should take some photos................ tis ok. I just running out of ideas, and ability. beetle:stare: Sorry Beetle as I may have missed something here. Are your neighbours still getting at your children? If so then get evidence by way of pictures and sound to present to a court if you need to. Now why the dog run? Would the dog run stop the dogs barking if they do, or would the dog run have to be sound proof so the neighbours can't hear them? Are your dogs unhappy and they DO bark because they do not have a dog run but you just do not hear them? Unlike cats, dogs need attention more than cats do. I would love to have a dog but it would not be fair to the dog as I leave my home for 12-14 hours a day while at work so therefore I have to forego that. Dogs do want company and if I had a dog I could not take it to work with me. I thought very seriously about this post and I do not want to add to your problems at all. |

| 683658 | 2008-07-08 01:59:00 | Ok Points here : currently my back section is not dog proof, they can jump the high corrogated iron fence in one bound, and go down other neigbours drive and away down the street. I made a dog run the length of one side of the house, before the new neigbours moved in. this kept the dogs safe, and warm, dog kennel, blankets etc, and we let them out under monitoring, while over time i have been fixing the boundary fence. the neighbours complained, 6 - 8 weeks down the track, i have about half the back dog proof, takes time and money. i went into hospital at the time the neigbours complained, didnt know till i came out. unable to do much as i was bed ridden a lot of that first week, unwell, and in great pain, not eating, i told the dog ranger all this. He knows these dogs as they escaped a few months ago, and had been on the look out for them for me. and i collected them from him, as they went from my suburb across town and was almost in the middle of town. Until recently i had been taking them regularly to the beach, but due to illness, and tiredness this was not happening. my section is on multiple levels and where the new intended dog run is to go, is limited access and on multi levels so i am stuck as how to suitably fence it. i had a lovely flat high dog run for them, at quite a cost to make a very high fence so they couldnt jump it, possibly about the $300 mark, plus a large kennel at $200, and some lovely blankeys and water bucket. and i thought i was all set. now i have the problem i cannot get the kennel into the new area, with out acessing my front yard, which means going completly outside of the fenced area, taking around the garage and getting the gate which had been secured - wired and wood nailed shut, and the fact is i cannot lift the kennel, we managed to drag it out of the old dog run, we i mean me and 2 children. but to get it where it is needed i need to lift it over and up the retaining wall, past the edge of the building and then drop it down to another level. i am not that strong.:( i cannot acess this area, unless i clamber up and down retaining walls where the dogs just zoom about and think it great to jump about me while i trying to get up or down. i need some stairs........ i need a fence, i need a gate and i need muscles and most of all i need a budget $$ I still get tired easy, i cannot take two boistrous dogs for a walk in my neigbourhood, too dangerous. and ive not felt up to or weather wise been able to take them to the beach. so at the moment i in a hole, i cant do it, i dont have money or energy, and i have no help. so yeah its a sad case of beetle being weak and female, and not made of money. beetle :( |

I had a similar even happen about 5 years ago with my dog, he used to roam free around the back yard, never barked unless provoked. One day I got a call from the ranger saying there was a complaint from the guy across the road saying the dog was barking all day - Bullsh*t - no one else said anything and other neighbors were known to complain about just about anything, almost every day the ranger rang with the same complaint. In the end I took the day off work, had my car around the back of the section - for all intense purposes it looked like no one was home, then just before 10.00am, the usual time he complained (according tot he ranger) I saw him walking up our drive with a stick, now the gate was a metal one at the front of the house,so the back yard was fully fenced - but the front yard was open to the street - the dog was laying on the back lawn as per normal and he comes up to the gate and starts banging it with the stick and yelling at the dog - the dog goes nuts - as you would expect - I walked out the front door and asked was there a problem - he just about crapped himself suddenly realizing he had been caught. He mumbled something and took off - I called the ranger and told her what was going on - funny how she went to his house shortly after that and never had another complaint. MAYBE its the neighbors actually causing the dogs to bark - esp if they are rarking them up. My current dog - she only barks when someone comes up the drive. Personally I think you need to look at the times they are accused of barking and see if they actually are, and what's causing them to do so - OK dogs bark sometimes, there's a difference between "playful" barks ( like playing with the kids) and aggro Barks - Humans Complain - and sometimes I know what I'd rather listen to.;) Looking at the Pic's there's not much more any one reasonable can expect you to do. You are being responsible and to have to keep the kids inside because the neighbors are being a - holes, is not good in any ones books. |

| 683664 | 2008-07-08 09:49:00 | Beets, I'm surprised your neighbours can see your kids... I suppose they can hear them. Can't you get Mets around to play with the kids outside and then when the neighbours see/hear your kids, they will see Mets and decide that maybe harrassing your kids is a bad idea. Note. I am assuming that Mets is not a 5 ft thin person. If you are Mets, don't take offence by this :D |
