683647 2008-07-06 01:33:00 On a lovely sunday morning lying in thinking its so nice to be here in bed warm and snuggled and the phone rings............. the dog ranger....

Yes another phone call from the lovely neighbours.
1am they said my dogs barked......... who the heck is awake at that hour? i didnt hear them. Nobody else complained to the dog ranger. and he also says the new neighbours have targetted the neighbours on the other side....... as well, and they have a foxy. they are lovely neighbours.

yesterday every 2 hours the dog ranger came down our street, and parked round the corner from my house and listened......... he never heard my dogs at all................ !!

The dog ranger is going to go door knocking today he said to see what the neighbourhood has to say about the dog problem and the new neighbours.

oh joy.

so i am on the lookout for a dog run and kennel to borrow for a while, till i can afford to get a new one... trademe has lots, but my $$ dont stretch or they just arnt suitable for my size dog.

683648 2008-07-06 02:01:00 Sounds like you need a "Neighbour Ranger" more than a Dog Ranger, beetle.

Or maybe the Lone Ranger - hi ho, Silver, away! Tonto would have a brilliant idea, I'm sure...

With luck the dog ranger, doing his door-knocking, will get the true story.

What about the previous neighbours? Do you know where they went - can you get hold of them to help establish your dogs weren't a problem when they lived there (and maybe ask them to move back :D )?

Why do you think the old neighbours moved out?
And beetle, lots of people are up at 1am. Lets hope you are tolerant of the neighbours when they have a party.
People with dogs don't seem to hear them, people that don't have them hear them. A bit like living next to a rail line and not hearing the trains.

683650 2008-07-06 05:25:00 Just to clarify something here, there wernt any neighbours in that house at all, it has been renovated completely on the inside, the last people trashed it apparently, i have only been here since january .
:illogical
And yes i know all about parties and such, but remember i am struggling with this because i am deaf remember . . . . . . . . so i get up lots during the night to check my dogs arnt barking, i lie for hours listening at times to see if i can hear them . . . . . . . . . . . this is driving me nutty, im not saying they never bark im just not sure they bark as much as they say .

i have never had complaints about them barking at any other house, and ive lived at 2 before this one with my dogs .
Im open to the idea they bark, but ive never heard them when they say they do bark .

But if none of the other neighbours have complained, and now they have started to complain about another dog, on the other side of them, who we definetly never hear, says something?

Im trying to fix the situation . . . . . . . . . . . alas i spent the afternoon sleeping due to exhuastion, but yes i am trying to fix it, within my limited abilities, and finances .

683651 2008-07-07 22:40:00 firstly, my sympathies........however I've been on teh other side of that fence also didn't bother with the dog ranger but:

im not saying they never bark im just not sure they bark as much as they say.

that may be the case but a dog or dogs that DO bark off and on during the day and perhaps at night can REALLY drive a person nutty, make you feel like shootin the bloody animal or perhaps the owner ! (dont take offence please but someone elses comment that owners dont seem to hear their own dogs bark is quite accurate in my experience)

683652 2008-07-07 23:01:00 I dont take offense............ well try not to.:p

i undestand what its like, and yes i also understand that i might not hear tham, but i have moved them from that side of the house, and have them under the back verandah, and on long chains, which get tangled, and has given me some absolutely wicked bruises on the legs from getting tangled, and whipped by an excited dog.
I have started bringing them inside, and no they dont bark then. the cats are horrified.
i have been discussing with family on how to organise another run, sigh, money i dont have. oh and they cant help, my dad is 78 yrs old, and in a wheel chair, and my mum is a bent little lady who can barely walk, and they are very supportive, but not much physical help. and the rest of the family is self focused, so not much bloody good to me.:p

and hope to get something started by this week, if the weather cooperates.

its not that i dont beleive the people the bark its that they are rude, and abusive and are picking on multiple neighbours who have dogs, they dont talk they just yell, and if we make any noise, out comes the mower or weedeater and they play with it for a while......... when they could have done it just the day before like,

Im doing my best, my budget is limited, i dont get paid every week, and im not really a carpenter so my knowledge and ability isnt great.

but i am trying to fix it.

683653 2008-07-07 23:06:00 If it were still this bad, I'd probably talk to the ranger and explain things. Surely they're just as sick of hearing from them as you are? Dogs bark, it's a fact of life. People just have to learn to be tolerant of that.

If they still keep harrassing you I'd call the local police station and explain the situation. They could send someone round to talk to them. Just make sure you tell them everything, and for the love of god, make sure you tell the whole truth.

If they come away suggesting you buy a dog run, then buy a dog run. But you've done alot for now. Also, are the people next door renting? If so, you could call their landlord and complain about them.

When you say you're deaf, do you mean you've got poor hearing? Or you're actually deaf?

683654 2008-07-07 23:19:00 with who's money do i buy a dog run? the quote i got for a suitable dog run was $1300 +........if it was that easy to just go buy one dont you think i would have? but im on a single wage with children, and theres only so much money to go round, and also i get paid fortnightly so its all budgetted strictly.

and yes im deaf, if i do not wear my hearing aids, i am approximatly 80 % deaf, most of the regulars no this.......

money doesnt grow on trees.

All I was saying is before you start doing what you plan to do, consider having someone in authority, ie: dog ranger, police man, come and evaluate the situation.

I wasn't saying go out and buy a kevlar plated, diamond encrusted carbon fiber laden dog run. Just to consider talking to someone before you spend any money on anything.

I remember seeing a post a while back from someone deaf, I just didn't remember that someone was you.

I'm sorry I got your back up. And I may not be an old member, but I'm most definitely regular.

683656 2008-07-08 00:13:00 LOL

not grumpy, just stating facts .

I have to be seen as being pro active and have something firm to tell the dog ranger, to show yes i am doing something, i see or hear from him most days, but alas i cant afford a galvanised dog run for 2, the area where i need to put the dogs is in a triangle shaped area, so i cannot fit all mannaer of kennels . and it is on 2 levels, as it has a retaining wall down one side, so i am limited to what i can do . oh and it doesnt have stairs, so you have to jump or climb up or down .

maybe i should take some photos . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

tis ok . I just running out of ideas, and ability .
