| 812357 | 2009-09-21 05:07:00 | The Quadro cards are more designed for graphics work/editing I believe, while GeForce are more geared for gaming. | wratterus (105) | ||

Quadro chips are those that come out of the production better than other chips, ie, doesn't need high voltages, runs cooler etc. Then I think their firmware are totally different as they are programmed to do different things. I think I remember reading about how some 6800GTs or Ultras were flash modded into their Quadro counterparts by flashing the BIOS. |

| 812363 | 2009-09-21 22:10:00 | Yes we have just tried Solidworks on a Playtech Extreme gaming machine running a GTX295. Computer ran 150% but the graphics were not quite right. When spinning the model the intricate parts would turn to squares and would reappear once stopped. Zooming in and out was sweet with no slow down. Definately useable tho and about $1500 cheaper than a comparable Dell We didnt get the chance to run any other CAD programs at this stage, but Solidworks is definatley the most demanding at our comapany Now to find my copy of Crysis.... |
