811823 2009-09-19 05:42:00 I had to reinstall Office 2000 on this computer running Win2KPro(no fun but bad memory card gave a BSOD). I imported a backup pst file to Outlook calendar. When I open Outlook, it runs reminders very quickly from the past many years and I do not get a chance to delete any old entries and Outlook shuts down. I have found many suggestions on the web as to how to fix this but all require that I have Outlook open to access the functions. I guess I could delete Office 2000 (I don’t think there is any way that I can just remove Outlook) and the import another backup file with fewer duplicates. (I have a laptop running XP and Outlook 2003 so I could use a backup of this). Is there anyway I can delete ALL of the pst files without reinstalling Office?
Thanks much!

811824 2009-09-19 05:52:00 Yes you can navigate to your user name under application data look for Microsoft office and Outlook then delete the .pst file. This works in XP not sure about 2000. Office 03 allows the uninstallation of each component of office such as word or outlook don't know about office 2000 though gary67 (56)
811825 2009-09-19 16:09:00 Using Explore, and navigated as you suggested, I be darned if I could find the .pst files in Outlook. Any help in finding this?
Since my laptop has XP, and Office 2003, I checked and you are right that Outlook can be removed by itself. It appears that Win2K and Office 2000 won't allow only Outlook removal. I will probaby remove 00 and install 03.
Thanks much!

811826 2009-09-19 21:00:00 the pst files are located under c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook. ronyville (10611)
811827 2009-09-19 22:43:00 Thanks, I finally found them. They are hidden. Still haven't got things back to normal. rletter (15263)
811828 2009-09-20 00:32:00 Deleting and reinstalling did not work. Now I cannot find the .pst files and even after a "repair" of Office, Outlook gives me some duplicates which I cannot delte with the error "The mesaging interface was returned with an unknow erro. If problem persits restart Outlook". Of course I exited Outlook and opened again and still cannot delete any entries. rletter (15263)

To expand on that... support.microsoft.com ;)

There's also enough info there to assist you with copying/deleting PST files if need be.

811831 2009-09-20 23:20:00 "scanpst" will not "run" -the file cannot be found on my computer.
I think I have already looked at the MS support site with no help.
Thanks
