811570 2009-09-18 06:26:00 Hi all, I am going to do a clean install of Windows 7 when it comes out next month & have just run a Win. 7 requirements check on my computer. Everything checks out ok except an update driver is required for "Gigabyte GBB36X controller". Can some kind person tell me what this controller is for & do I really need to update it, Google only comes up with "Download Driver Here". Many thanks. jebby (4580)
811571 2009-09-18 06:49:00 Go to the GB site search for your mobo. See if the driver is there. This may help (forums.techarena.in) Speedy Gonzales (78)
811572 2009-09-18 07:18:00 Thanks for that Speedy but Gigabyte don't list that driver as GBB36X & I have no idea what it is for, Lan? Audio? etc. I have the latest bios update for the motherboard, M/B .. GA-MA790FX-DS5 / bios.. update F8d.
Any clues on what the controller is.

811573 2009-09-18 07:35:00 If its the SM Bus driver - download the chipset from Gigabyte - Post four From this site (forums.techarena.in) has direct links. OR go to The gigabyte site (www.gigabyte.com.tw) - In the middle, work through the models etc, and download. This link (www.gigabyte.com.tw) may work, it takes you directly to the download page, select the OS near the bottom, either 32 or 64 bit ( depending on what you purchase.)

Edited: click on " Show me all" on the right next to the OS selection to show all drivers

811574 2009-09-18 07:39:00 I would say, its got something to do with Jmicron the sata drivers or e-sata drivers

Its probably one of these (ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/). I would contact jmicron (www.jmicron.com) or Gigabyte, just to make sure, which 1 you should be getting / installing

811575 2009-09-18 09:48:00 Thanks, I will contact Gigabyte & see what they come up with, will let you know the outcome. jebby (4580)
811576 2009-09-22 02:52:00 I presume that you have XP at the moment?
I have just installed a BETA version of Win7 in an aging AMD4 Celeron computer and could not find any W7 drivers for it. The MB CD was rejected!

I copied the drivers off the the original Motherboard CD onto the hard drive, without any setup blurb. All the drivers were accepted and installed and it works well. The only driver I can not find is for the Agere Win Modem.

It may be a while before the correct W7 drivers come out.

811577 2009-09-22 21:26:00 You'll also find that the pre-flight checklist doesn't find a lot of drivers.

When installing it on my wifes old Acer laptop, it said Win7 didn't have display drivers, ethernet or wifi drivers. Hooked it up via a USB LAN adapter once it had installed Win7 RC, went to Windows Update and it found the lot!
