1444118 2017-12-27 23:44:00 I am a big fan of Burt Bacharach and Hal David's music. They have written some great music over the years, particularly for Dionne Warwick, but many other artists have also sung their music.

Have a look at en.wikipedia.org - I think that you will be surprised at the amount of hits that they have had - some that you know were written by them and others that you did not know.

And if you did not know, Burt Bacharach wrote the music and Hal David wrote the lyrics.

1444119 2017-12-28 00:53:00 They were the greatest Roscoe!!!! I didn't go much on Bacharach singing his own songs though when he did some concert tours.

Wow, right back to Marty Robbins in 1957 "The Story of My Life"

1444120 2017-12-28 23:50:00 Thanks for your comments, Ken. It seems as though we are the only two on this forum who like their music even though they had many hits very popular and well known by many on this forum - they just may not know who wrote the hits. They should have a look at en.wikipedia.org and they will see many songs that they know.

And I quite agree with you - Bacharach is not a singer and should stick to what he does best - writing music.

1444121 2017-12-29 07:35:00 The LP with Dionne Warwick was one of my favourites. I even photographed the cover before I threw it out

I didn't know Bacharach wrote Story of my Life. That was one of the first pop songs I remember as a kid, sung by Michael Holliday. I was 10 at the time and spent Sunday afternoons with my brothers feeling for golf balls with our bare feet in the holy streams. Dad played golf and pretended not to know us. Michael Holliday's hit was constantly running through my mind. I think it had a vocalised bass instead of a double bass or electric guitar. You know, someone singing Bom Bom Bom in a deep voice. They started doing that when the musicians union went on a prolonged strike

1444122 2017-12-30 00:17:00 Have a listen to this one Roscoe. Aretha Franklin does it better than Dionne Warwick in my opinion.

1444124 2017-12-30 06:25:00 Music taste is subjective, it's an impressive list of hits but there's almost nothing there that I would listen to or enjoy. dugimodo (138)

You are obviously from the wrong generation. Almost every song on that list was a big hit. Bacharach and David made a lot of money.

1444126 2017-12-31 01:11:00 Being a hit doesn't guarantee I'll like it :p There are hits all through my lifetime that I have not liked.
I'm more of a Rock/ Hard Rock/ Metal kind of person. As I said taste is subjective, there are more reasons than age as to what people enjoy.

The only stuff on that list that I like at all may surprise you but it's Marty Robbins because my Mum was a fan and I grew up with it.
As to wrong generation, I was born in '68 so a lot of that was released during my lifetime.
