1443993 2017-12-25 06:50:00 Here's a couple of basses I built .

8579 This is built along the lines of a '57 Fender Tele-Bass . The color is 1956 Cadillac Bahama Blue .

8580 I built this from a Peavey bass I found in an old garage - in a canoe - full of water . It is a Jazz Bass style .

I pulled the frets and filled the grooves with some leftover plastic I used to make NO PARKING signs . It weighs too much and this next summer season, I've got a stack of new wood for a new body - the wood's drying out in my garage all winter .

8581 This is a cedar-cherry-black walnut bass I built from cedar planks I cut from organ pipes . The pipes for old organs could be wood or brass - but these were wood from Israel - about 1860 or so (there are some brass plates with those dates) the cedars were harvested and sold as extremely straight grained wood for acoustic instruments .

I got over 40 of those pipes and although I feel I am performing some sort of sacrilegious actions by cutting them upo, at least they are still being used for instrument construction .

8583 The red one I built a while back . It was really a pattern for a Fender Jazz Bass, offset for better ergonometrics . I decided that I was going to make it a test body for pickups I was going to wind for myself .

I never got around to actually winding pickup coils, so I just finished it off in 1990-2000 Cessna Signal red lacquer .

8582 The guy in the orange shirt is me playing at the Bluegrass Festival a coupole of miles down the road here in Hamilton, Montana .

This fest happens every year in a beautiful wooded area .

1443994 2017-12-25 07:06:00 Here's a link to a short album of some of the basses I currently own, bought or built. (photos.app.goo.gl)

If it has the three penguins on it - I built it. I have some actual Fender Basses here too.

8584 For DIGBY: This is that back-side of the bass I was building a few posts before - ----

It is basically cherrywood and some white Birch and Black Walnut. It is also partially hollow.
