2017-12-18 03:09:00 | Beat THIS (www.nzherald.co.nz) you beat me. So where do I go for the Public Floggings? "Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Hoani Waititi Marae sent 251 students, staff and caregivers to Rarotonga. After fundraising and family contributions, the school funded the shortfall of nearly $250,000 which contributed to its deficit."

2017-12-18 04:46:00 | And the $250,000 only contributed to the shortfall! Are they saying the shortfall is much larger? I look forward to the outcome, because it all happened under the National Government, but what will the present Government do about it? Sweep it under the Carpet is my guess!

Me too. Oh dear, I wondered who was supposed to be in charge whilst all these shenanigans were going on so I looked it up. Wouldnt you know it, the recently retired Heika Parata, wife of Sir Wira Gardiner, and partner in in the Consultancy Firm Gardiner and Parata Ltd, who just so happen to do work for Government Agencys. And then there was the small matter of Parata signing a Government Purchase Order for two cars for her Husband. Seems they got out of that one because whilst they got the Government Discount Gardiner had actually paid for them and they were given back to the Government and auctioned. Controversies: (whole sordid story HERE (en.wikipedia.org) ) Parata's name was connected to an investigation by the State Services Commissioner Don Hunn into the improper use of public funds in the purchase of two vehicles for her partner (and at that time Te Puni Kōkiri chief executive) Wira Gardiner in 1995. Parata's name was on the purchase orders issued by the Ministry, although it eventually became known that the cars were paid by and for Mr Gardiner at the time of purchase. The investigation cleared both Gardiner and Parata of any illegal activity, and the cars were returned to the Ministry for re-sale at a Government auction.[14] Parata's consultancy firm was contracted to recommend the best options for providing "ongoing high quality Maori advice" to Chief Executive Christine Rankin and senior managers at the Department of Work and Income in 1999, at a cost of $207,500. The expenditure was criticised by Green MP Rod Donald, as the Māori unemployment rate rose during this period from 27 to 29%.[15] The firm also attracted controversy when National MP Murray McCully criticised the spending of $240,000 by the Ministry of Economic Development for training courses on the Treaty of Waitangi run by the company in 2003.[16] In 2001, Parata was appointed to the Māori Television Service Board.[17] She resigned within two months, reportedly blaming a "lack of funding" for the new Maori TV channel.[18][19] Hmmm "Birds of a Feather" comes to mind! |

2017-12-19 03:34:00 | Who keeps saying there is little corruption in NZ . Its far too easy to spend other peoples money. It these are just the things we actually hear about, tip of the iceberg schools fundraising for Fiji, kept the money for themselves www.radionz.co.nz "We drew attention to the school not passing on $3700 collected specifically for Fiji flood victims," it said. "The school kept the funds and used them for school purposes." "Blockhouse Bay Intermediate was also among the schools to spend high amounts on an overseas trip, paying $26,000 towards the $82,000 cost of a trip to Korea for 18 students and three teachers." "Manurewa West School paid for five staff to visit Kuala Lumpur, as part of a trip to tour schools in Singapore." "Blockhouse Bay Intermediate spent $7000 for a farewell party and $3000 on a leaving gift for the principal, Kingsford School gave vouchers to the value of $10,000 to the principal as a leaving gift, and Puhinui School gave the departing principal a $8500 ride-on mower when he left the school." No one is held responsible. No one is made to pay it back . Make those who approve these payouts & scams personally liable & things will quickly change And yet the schools keep saying they are underfunded & make parents fork out hundreds in fees

2017-12-19 04:34:00 | Absolutely right 1101, but when you get a chance, take the time to read the whole of the Auditor Generals report I linked to in Post #5. All of which you posted is confirmed in there, and more, which leaves me thinking the system is rotten to the core. I also note the Minister who oversaw all the corruption has resigned from parliament, probably because she found out earlier what the Auditor Generals Department had uncovered, under Parliaments No Surprises rule. I would hate to be in charge of Parliaments Dirty Washing, but if Jacinda wants to make a name for herself and go down in history, she has a real opportunity here by just getting right up these thieves. ;)
