1442841 2017-11-30 03:29:00 There's always a 'but' ain't there?

Is there a repository that will install all the correct driver-stuff for me?

I'm currently in Ubuntu Studio and I don't see anything available - although the advertisement said it is supported by Ubuntu - so I should be ready to fly - right?

This is a wireless, USB-wired or Cat5e installation, but I want the wireless one . I'm halfway tempted to just plug the power into the wall and let it discover the router and the 'puter and see where that all goes - but I am warned about doing it a little differently .

I have a webpage here that tells something very different from what I've read on a few other sites:

. canonpedia . com/canon-imageclass-mf244dw-driver-download/" target="_blank">www . canonpedia . com

This just goes in circles - 'round and 'round .

1442842 2017-11-30 04:56:00 So what I would do, and have done before, is plug the printer in to the power.
Set it up on the network.
Open printers in Ubuntu
click add printer.
then network printer
select your printer, in my example it is Canon MB2000 series
then let the OS load its own drivers.
(It may require selecting your printer model from the list it gives)

1442844 2017-11-30 05:21:00 Well --- that was interesting. I had to use a Generic driver - but it is printing. It just likes to print a lot of 'test sheets' with nothing on them.

I'll work on it for a while.

BTW: All my Androids are working fine on it. They jumped right on it and installed everything I/they needed.

1442845 2017-11-30 05:59:00 Did you not try the Canon drivers listed, they may not be for the 'exact' model number, they are often for a series of models.
Otherwise perhaps you could tell me which model you have.

1442846 2017-11-30 06:09:00 OK .... it's an ImageCLASS244dw. SurferJoe46 (51)
1442847 2017-11-30 06:49:00 Hi Joe, there is no built in driver for this model :(
This is where to download the driver:

www.usa.canon.com

When you go to download, Firefox should ask if you want to open it in Archive Manager, click yes or OK to that.
Once it has downloaded and is showing in Archive Manager select it and click on extract, select a location to extract to (Desktop is ok)

Then you can either open the folder and right click in the empty area in it and click on 'Open Terminal Here'
Or navigate to the folder in terminal with a command such as
cd Desktop/linux-UFRII-drv-v340-02-usen

Once you have an active terminal inside the folder
Issue this command
sudo ./install.sh

It will then ask you to enter your password, then confirm the installation by typing y and pressing enter

It should then install the driver and then once it is installed ask if you wish to register the driver, so confirm that and hopefully your printer driver will appear in the list in 'Printers'
I have tried this in Mint and had no issue, so should work in Ubuntu as Mint is based on it.

If there's some place where I can click on something - I am not sure where it is .

There - under OPERATING SYSTEM - DRIVERS --- there's no active link .

1442849 2017-11-30 07:27:00 OK it has had issues detecting which OS you have just click in the box where it says Linux (detected) and select either Linux 64 bit or Linux 32 bit depending on which you have.
It should then give a link like in the picture, click on select, then on download.

1442850 2017-11-30 07:48:00 If the installation fails with red lettering
you will need to use this command

sudo dpkg --configure -a
Then restart the installation once it has completed that.
