1442491 2017-11-24 18:17:00 OK - here's the Village Idiot again, and I'm getting messages from my monitor telling me that I need to set it to 1680x1050 .

Problem is ---- when I go to ARandR - I cannot find that value .

I can get lesser values, but 1024x768 appears to be what this distro will only allow me to use .

Do I set it in the monitor itself or use the Ubuntu TERMINAL to make it better and what the monitor says it needs?

[PS I have an observation about stability factors for my WiFi in Ubuntu/ 16 . 04 and I'll start another query for that - stay tuned! Heck fire, this place is sure quiet since Metla left :waughh:]

1442492 2017-11-24 22:04:00 Why are you using ARandR?
Ubuntu Studio has a display utility it is found in settings manager/hardware/display
try that and see if it gives more options.

1442493 2017-11-24 22:59:00 I can't get any better results for some reason . All I see in either is 1024 x 768 and lower .

If I enable the drop-down, I can't for some reason take a screenshot .

I also had to install kgrab and kscreenshot to get one of them to work . Sorry fir the lag in response time from me . I am here right now .

EDIT - I have NO idea where that thumbnail came from . It's my system, but I never took, saved or uploaded it .

1442494 2017-11-24 23:02:00 So what sort of graphics is the system running?
Nvidea, AMD, or Intel?
You may need to install additional drivers.

1442495 2017-11-24 23:14:00 There is a screenshot utility in Ubuntu Studio, see attached: KarameaDave (15222)

This is what I got .

Am I supposed to go outside the canonical drivers and updates?

I went for all of them and got these messages .

1442497 2017-11-24 23:24:00 Huuuurmph!

Never noticed it - but kgrab and screenshot seems to be OK.

1442499 2017-11-24 23:29:00 OK that is an older, poorly supported iGPU
I would try the xorg/nouveau driver and see if that works any better.
You do not need to change anything in the second screenshot.
