| 1443730 | 2018-01-04 19:01:00 | Now shouldn't the Intel thing be in it's own thread? After all, it's not a Win10 **** thing. And may I point out while everyone is running about like headless chickens, panicking, this thing has been in existence for quite some time. Once fixes have been applied, no doubt everyone will relax, go back to thinking they're all safe and secure again, but remember we don't know about the other issues yet, and never do until there is an announcement by someone. Sometimes, like this, a long time after. LOL. Anyone who thinks computing is private is kidding themselves, no matter what O/S, although I do give you some are better than others. But none are 100%. And interestingly, while there is such a fuss over Intels implementation, why shouldn't there be an equal fuss over MSs nonsense? Windows 10 violates basic networking principles: it ignores the hosts files, the DNS protocol and firewall rules and sends telemetry data regardless. Wifi sharing defaulting to on etc. |

| 1443731 | 2018-01-04 21:02:00 | Windows 10 violates basic networking principles: it ignores the hosts files, Thought that rather strange, maybe they had changed something as I have set up customers computers to block via the host file in the past and worked fine. Just tried it again, and it does work / block in all browsers Except CHROME, chrome ignored the host file. Edge, FF, IE ( don't have any other browsers like opera) it still worked. Anyone can try it by following the instructions from www.online-tech-tips.com The telemetry is detected by Esets Smart security ( not the Antivirus alone) and you can decide to allow or not, if its set to interactive mode not the default of automatic. You are right in the statement about not being private. Theres actually some rather interesting articles if searched for even about some VPN's. Example: when-is-a-vpn-not-private-when-youre-not-paying-for-it/ (nakedsecurity.sophos.com) why shouldn't there be an equal fuss over MSs nonsense? There is, plenty of posts about it. There are just as many complaints about Android, apple etc, its the way of the world these days. Some people still refuse to have a cell phone of any make for that very reason. |

| 1443732 | 2018-01-06 04:13:00 | I would love to get involved in this discussion of Windoze 10 as its installed on my devices. However its worked fine from installation and I have nothing to whinge about. But the weather thats another story! | prefect (6291) | ||
| 1443733 | 2018-01-10 02:25:00 | I was cursing Win10 when an update broke a game I played on my laptop, but they fixed it a couple of months ago (Microsoft, not the game maker) so at least that's better than nothing. It's a game from 2002, so I can see older games being made obsolete just like hardware is as time goes on | the_bogan (9949) | ||
