2017-12-13 04:53:00 | Scrub the instructions about folders, turns out it moves the folder, not creates a link sorry. | KarameaDave (15222) | |
2017-12-13 05:04:00 | For a folder, you create a launcher and in command field put nemo /home/your_user_name/name_of_directory so for example to put a link to my Pictures directory on desktop the command is nemo /home/dave/Pictures Note the space between nemo and the /

2017-12-13 18:32:00 | Thanks Dave that worked great. The problem I was having in the case of Audacity was I was putting in the whole path, not just audacity. Now the instructions for the file take me to the file fine but don't open it. e.g. The following takes me to the .swf movie file but doesnt open it. However, double clicking the file then works perfect. (And note how I escaped the space between Hervey and Bay with a (\). ;) 8516 Anyway, I can stop looking for a Linux Icon, Emblem, Applet,............maker because an ordinary .jpg works fine. I havent tried it yet but the reading I have done on the matter would indicate that .png files work fine too. All good so far, now just a matter of opening the file now it's found. I guess the code for a double-click on the end?

2017-12-13 19:55:00 | No just replace the nemo part with vlc and it should open the file and play it with vlc (I hope vlc will play a .swf, didn't we have issues with those at an earlier time?)

2017-12-13 20:06:00 | I just tried playing one with vlc, all seems OK. | KarameaDave (15222) | |

Yes we did have trouble Dave and got over it by installing a programme called Flash Movie Player which works under WINE. 8517 However, there has been some updates since we last tried, so I'll try again and see what happens. |

2017-12-13 21:15:00 | Try installing Gnash. So open terminal type in sudo apt-get install gnash press enter, type in your password, press enter confirm installation if it asks. Allow it to complete installation Then change the command in your launcher properties by replacing vlc with gnash hopefully it will play it.

2017-12-13 21:26:00 | I've just been Googleing Dave and that was the consensus of opinion there too. So, I went to Packet Manager and there it shows as already installed. 8518 However, no matter where I search, I cant find it as an application, so I guess it must be a plug-in for something but what? But I'm probably off down the wrong track again. :)

2017-12-13 21:47:00 | Follow my previous instructions, change vlc to gnash in the launcher properties. But if you want to find the binary it is at /usr/bin/gnash
