I am just trying to point out that in answer to the OP, people should be upgrading to W10 like millions of others have and making it work for them otherwise they will be left behind, with outdated systems. If it truly was a piece of **** it would be well known through the PC and IT communities eg like Windows ME. |

Hell, I used ME for years and unlike Win 10 never had a problem with it. The crunch here is Win 10 is a dog and the Internet is full of evidence of the fact. In fact, it is the only product I can think of thats been released with the expectation that the consumer will fix it, although Lada Cars comes to mind as I type. Anyway, Piroska, why dont you grab an old HDD and install Mint Cinnamon Sarah on it and see what you think. Dont know if it would be any good for gaming, as Im not into it, but it would be easy enough to find out. Im curious to see how others find that version of Linux as I never had a moments problem with ME either, but it seems plenty did. :) |

Yeah, thanks...I just thought, I DO have an old HDD, took my C: out ages ago and increased size with a new one. But kept it, why I don't know. Linux being smaller, that would do actually. I could play now and get used to it before the hardware requires it. Excellent idea. |

| 1443648 | 2017-12-29 20:24:00 | I just Googled "Windows 10 a dog" And there was really only one artilce about it being a dog. The other listings were about dog photos etc! The artilce about Windows 10 gave 5 reasons why its a dog. They were all about things like updates, sending user data etc. No complaints about the OS itself To me an OS would be a dog, if it crashed a lot, if you could not find anything, if it was slow etc etc. But it is none of these Imho W10 is very reliable and it has all of the features I would ever need (with more coming) They are trying to tidy up the system tray and control panel. |

Happenes on ALL OS's including linux and Apples. Just need to search on google to find those. Apple is in the do-do's at the moment due to updates causing all sorts of power problems after an update on their phones and tablets. Just 1 article apple-slow-iphone-batteries (www.vox.com) Of course Apple are saying its to protect the battery -- What has happened is many people are forced to buy a new phone or fork out $$ to replace the battery which should have lasted longer. |

| 1443653 | 2017-12-29 22:57:00 | Windows 10 Like the car analogy. Where you could have got a state of the art OS for free, and you get free upgrades for ever. Sort of like being able to buy a car and get free repairs for ever and free new models. |

| 1443654 | 2017-12-30 00:21:00 | But when you want to go to the park, it takes you to the shops. And it calls all the hawkers and tells them where you're going so they can have their stalls set up when you arrive. It picks up hitchikers without your permission, who look through your glovebox and take what they want. It randomly decides it needs repairs and stops in it's tracks while you wait for it to finish. And even though you quite like the model you have it is replaced every few months with a new one, with all new problems, and the controls in different places. And it is easy to break into so gets broken into all the time and you need to pay for third party locks and an alarm system. Analogies are fun! :D |
