Poor old Winblows, not anywhere near as relevant in the real world. Why is it then, excluding Phones, are the majority of consumer computers sold in shops either Windows or Apples ??

Its VERY rare to find a real computer (laptop or desktop) come pre loaded with Any form of Linux ?

Servers in business, sure wont disagree there, even here out of the 5 Server/storage devices three are Linux based ( Note: Linux based NOT an actual Linux desktop/Server OS).

As for the stats people post -- Its laughable. One person can post one, someone else using a different site post the opposite, here's a n example. Windows 88.3% Linux 2.21

www.netmarketshare.com (www.netmarketshare.com 22%3A%5B%7B%22deviceType%22%3A%7B%22%24in%22%3A%5B %22Desktop%2Flaptop%22%5D%7D%7D%5D%7D%2C%22dateLab el%22%3A%22Custom%22%2C%22attributes%22%3A%22share %22%2C%22group%22%3A%22platform%22%2C%22sort%22%3A %7B%22share%22%3A-1%7D%2C%22id%22%3A%22platformsDesktop%22%2C%22date Interval%22%3A%22Monthly%22%2C%22dateStart%22%3A%2 22017-11%22%2C%22dateEnd%22%3A%222017-11%22%2C%22segments%22%3A%22-1000%22%7D) Change a parameter, and it will give different results. ;)

1443616 2017-12-28 21:08:00 Well you know, "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."
Anyone could cherry-pick a section of the IT world's stats, excluding parts that don't support their agenda
and thereby prove what they wish.
If however you include all sections, as I did, then the Linux kernel is driving a greater proportion than any other does.
OK? :)

1443617 2017-12-28 21:35:00 Maybe you would be good enough to link us to where you obtained this figure of 2% and how it was arrived at Digby?

I found this interesting as it seems if you break Windows down into versions you get a whole different picture. Unfortunately Win 10 isn’t on the board yet.

8596

And you must remember the argument isn't about all of Windows, it is specific to Win 10 ;)

I made an intelligent guess.

Your chart must be really out of date if it does not include Windows 10 which has been out now for nearly 2 years!

1443618 2017-12-28 21:38:00 Surely we should be talking about home and business desktop users.

I have two desktops, both with W10.
But I have a website that is hosted on a Linux server (as are most of them)
So does that make me a Linux user?

And the OP was about W10 being a piece of ****.

So I am still waiting for evidence that it is a piece of **** (for most people) not one or two that cannot get it going.

Cherry-picking again!
Sad:(

1443620 2017-12-28 23:03:00 Cherry-picking again!
Sad:( Well KD like a LOT of people they don't actually answer the Question ( nothing to do with stats - its a fact) ,they either dance around a question or go off on a tangent. As a guy who I used to work for years ago sometime said--- That's not what I asked.

So I'll ask again.

"Why is it then, excluding Phones, are the majority of consumer computers sold in shops either Windows or Apples ??"

1443622 2017-12-28 23:25:00 Desktop OS is only a fraction of I.T. and you know it,
but yes, let's get back to the point of the thread
Windows 10 and its amazing un-usability.

Yes, so lets forget the world of IT (which is just for career specialists) and talk about everyday OS's

You are being difficult again

You just hate that I'm right, and there's nothing you can do about it! :)
