1442580 2017-11-25 17:09:00 My screen resolution is set to the recommended setting in Windows 10 but my icons and fonts are larger than normal and all pictures are stretched unnaturally wide.

How can I fix this?

Thanks

1442581 2017-11-25 19:15:00 Right click your task bar and select properties.
Tick the Use Small Icons box.

In Control Panel, Display, at least in Win 7, you can choose smaller, medium or larger for size of text etc. Or choose custom dpi.

1442582 2017-11-25 19:25:00 Thanks pctek but a properties option doesn't seem to appear when I right click the task bar. Should it? In Windows 10? JohnnyR (9277)
1442583 2017-11-25 20:42:00 Win 10 type 'display' in the search box and it it will show display settings as the top option click on that and you will get to where you need to be to change things. CliveM (6007)
1442584 2017-11-25 21:03:00 Thanks pctek but a properties option doesn't seem to appear when I right click the task bar. Should it? In Windows 10? The instructions that pctek gave wont work in Windows 10. To get to the same place in W10. right click any where on a blank part of the screen, then the top option is View ---- The old Display option in the control has also been removed.

Some of the text options have been well hidden the ones available are as Clive posted, anything more in depth and you need to install a third party program to tweak them.

1442585 2017-11-25 22:32:00 Thanks wainuitech and CliveM, that's sorted the icons out. However everything on my screen still looks like it's been stretched sideways, particularly pictures. Everything in the View and Display sections looks Ok.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks JR

1442586 2017-11-25 22:37:00 Perhaps you could tell us what specific display (make and model) you have and which resolution it is set to? KarameaDave (15222)
1442587 2017-11-25 23:19:00 Both scale and layout and resolution are set to recommended settings. I'm not sure what display details you would like to know? JohnnyR (9277)
1442588 2017-11-25 23:25:00 Are you using a 16:9 setting? Zippity (58)
1442589 2017-11-25 23:30:00 Both scale and layout and resolution are set to recommended settings. I'm not sure what display details you would like to know?
Perhaps they are, but if they were correct you would not have the issue of which you complain.
So...
What specific display (make and model) you have and which resolution it is set to.
