684557 2008-07-02 04:58:00 Well, parents have decided it's time to upgrade a little, from the 15w Clarions that are in the doors currently.

After taking the door panels off (what a mission, don't know if anyone has done audio in an Estima before, not fun at all) I see that the 4" speakers are mounted to a bracket that's screwed flush into the door itself, completely independent of the plastic door moulding.

It basically looked like the speaker magnet had been glued onto the bracket.

So I unscrew the bracket from the door, and low and behold, there is a single screw holding it in, going right through the bracket and into the magnet!!! :(

I have got some nice Sonys, and am wondering if anyone knows if I can mount them in the same fashion, or is screwing into the magnet going to root the speaker.

If it is, I'm going to have some fun mounting them. :p

Thanks in advance.

I'd rather mount it on the plastic door panel than cut into the door itself, there's only 6cm or so of space between the door cavity and the car body, so don't wanna be cutting in there any more than absolutely necessary.
