813390 2009-09-24 07:35:00 Hi, I currently have Sky Digital working in my lounge. Had it installed a while ago (the dish, the receiver PACE DS-230 etc). It connects to my TV via composite cable (not very good i know, but it satisfies for now).

I now want to be able to watch some kind of TV in my bedroom. I know one of my options are to split output from the box and wire it to my bedroom meaning i will only have to watch the same channel on my bedroom tv. I could also get Magic Eye or any IR transmitter which will allow me to change channels.

However, I would like to have Freeview in my bedroom. I currently do not have a freeview box. I can purchase a freeview decoder for the tv or a USB freeview TV tuner for my PC. i dont understand what kind of tuner must i buy, analogue / digital /dvb-s /dvb-t ...please help

Lastly, what input / signal goes into the usb tuner or the freeview box. Must i run some new coax from the existing sky dish? What are my options? Before we got SKY digital, there was an old cable coming from our roof which went into our tv to get 1,2,3 c4 etc..this cable is stilll there but not used

Appreciate the help.

Its either DVB-S or T. S is satellite, but this doesnt support HD if you want HD. T = Terrestrial, which does support HD for some channels

Depends if you get S or T. If S, you'll need a connection for the dish, if T, you need a normal UHF aerial (The tuner if its USB, may come with the normal aerial connection / adapter).

It wont be analogue, its not digital, so you wont get freeview.

813393 2009-09-24 10:15:00 I have no idea, I've never used or seen a satellite dish connection. I use DVB-T

Better to ask the shop / wherever you buy it from

Cheers.

813395 2009-09-24 10:43:00 Your Sky decoder should be connected to your Sky dish by a coaxial cable. If you have a LCD TV go terrestial for Freeview.
Have a read on this forum forum.dtvforum.co.nz and maybe ask your questions there.
