684298 2008-07-03 00:47:00 I heard somewhere that MS take in $1B a day in revenue. Not sure if that's still right... but I'm sure they're shaking in their boots. Thebananamonkey (7741)
684299 2008-07-03 02:54:00 June issue: Pages22 & 23, for some reason i thought it was one story on 2 pages... weird but that was a good example of how the layout just doesnt stand out, page 8 notes from a pc user... well, to me, that page could have been used better, basically pages 1 - 46 have nothing of real interest, maybe consumer watch was an ok read, but that was it. rob_on_guitar (4196)

Considering the size of the company I'm not surprised although having said that, Apple's revenue for the last financial quarter was just under half of Microsofts revenue for the same period and Apple only has just under 10% of the market.

684301 2008-07-03 03:14:00 Ok, Ill put it another way, say Im in a band, a band is made of normally a guitar/bass player, a drummer and a singer.

You are in it for the same reason but you do different things aye.

That being said, I go buy a guitar magazine and it has stuff for drummers.

Obviously I wont be happy.

Say you buy a magazine of holdens and its filled with fords, or you buy playboy and it has naked men instead of women...

you get my drift?
I'm not the one producing the magazine, I was just explaining why the magazine might be including Mac related articles - to pick up some of the NZ Mac users who may decide to purchase NZ PC Mag.
If I was NZ PC Mag I would be happy because this = additional sales $$$ which they can show to their advertisers and say "hey we have increased our sales, pay us this much and you can advertise with us and reach X amount of computer users" The client says "yeah ok, sounds like a good deal. Place our advert and here is the $$$."
DONE DEAL.

Also an increasing number of house holds in NZ have both a Mac and a PC - Mac for the kids and school work and PC for mum and dad so a magazine that covers both would be a bonus.

Sorry about the double post.

How do all your arguments tend towards Apple's revenue and market share? It's like your very own version of Godwin's Law.

And how much of that came from just Macs and software? Cos last time I checked Apple sold iPods and those stupid phones as well.

I list them for comparison - I also follow the financial results of both companies.

From the April Quarter figures 2008
2,289,000 computers during the quarter, representing 51 percent unit growth and 54 percent revenue growth over the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 10,644,000 iPods during the quarter, representing one percent unit growth and eight percent revenue growth over the year-ago quarter. Quarterly iPhone™ sales were 1,703,000. -

It's not borderline obsession. It's obsession. And it's unnatural.

Don't you find that a little boring?

When people ask you your hobbies do you say... " I follow the financial results of mac and M$ for a hobby"

Just curious..
