| 684288 | 2008-07-02 19:07:00 | It should also be noted that Windows overall market share has dropped from 95% to around 90% in the last couple of years with further declines expected. Wow a 5% drop, that is huge. If I had a business that had a market share of only 90% I would consider jumping out of the nearest window (pun intended). And if school are buying more Macs that really pisses me off. When the students get to private industry they will find that only 5% of their employers use Macs. I am not being anti-mac just being practical. |

Many employers allow their employees to run what ever computer or OS they choose which is also why Macs run Windows in VMware, Parallels or Bootcamp. Happy workers are more productive and you can run different 3 OSes without needing 3 machines. Globally 5% is huge - I believe it equates to about $1 billion in revenue per 1% of market share for a company like Apple.(rough figures) |

| 684290 | 2008-07-02 19:17:00 | Indeed that is very true although Macs do run a lot of Windows software including Windows itself which is relevant when reviewing Windows software apps or running tests or in the case of some customers, when purchasing a new computer. However in the interests of users on this forum it might be better just to go with gaming, PC fixing/tweaking/building and graphic card reviews - of course I guess it depends on whether overall sales and subscriptions are improving or dropping as a result of having more Mac related articles in a PC Mag. Ok, Ill put it another way, say Im in a band, a band is made of normally a guitar/bass player, a drummer and a singer. You are in it for the same reason but you do different things aye. That being said, I go buy a guitar magazine and it has stuff for drummers. Obviously I wont be happy. Say you buy a magazine of holdens and its filled with fords, or you buy playboy and it has naked men instead of women... you get my drift? |

Some smaller company's do, but for the most part you couldn't be more wrong. Plus financially that makes no sense at all. My company just bought $60k worth of new Dells, which would cost far far more if they were to evaluate each individuals needs. Instead they bought the same machine x60 for the WLG office, and x80-90 for the AUCK. Makes more sense, and makes the IT depts life less suicide inducing. |

If this wasn't intentional, I suggest making sure their partner doesn't find out. Getting back on track, I'd like to see an article on some of the mods there are for various games out there. |
