I use Windows Firewall...sue me! I'm also behind a NAT/router. What I DON'T USE is WMP11, Vista, Norton/McAfee/Symentec, NOD32, ZA, (recently dumped SpyBot), MSN, LiveChat, IE v anything! I just stay off the porn, blogs, , don't tell M$ about any problems and DON'T accept any Media Player updates. |

Everything. It blocks all applications that you want working and then lets all the keyloggers send your passwords without even blinking. and it's made by microsoft. just like onecare. do you use that ? |

Can you supply me with a few . . or two or even ONE thing that Windows firewall blocks that you cannot run? I've never had that sortta experience . . . please inform me . Onecare® is bossy . . I don't use it . . but I never said I did . Of course, I am hiding behind that silly router too . . so I guess that I'm not playing fair . |

| 683981 | 2008-07-01 06:22:00 | I use Avast, Vista, WMP 11, Zonealarm and Spybot w/ TeaTimer and have never had a single major problem. Norton, however, will never be used. (I never connected the tablet PC to the net before Norton was removed completely.) |

(I never connected the tablet PC to the net before Norton was removed completely . ) Makes sense . . . if you have enough to support Vista, then what's another few gigs off the RAM? Seriously though . . . I use plain ol' XP-P and I believe that sitting behind a router is one of the safest moves anyone can make . I personally liked SB w/TeaTimer . . it worked until it got a little top heavy for me on the Dell . . . . but my Soyo runs it well . . . I just don't surf too much with that one any more . . . it's doing media duty almost all the time now . |

| 683983 | 2008-07-01 10:52:00 | Hey, you are all welcome to use Windows firewall, Vista, Nortons, or whatever. If that is what turns you on, go for it. Unfortunately I cannot use the @#$! things ( ;) ) because they don't make a version to fit the OS I normally use, and I won't use them on my occasional excursions into M$ territory because it is quicker to get the same effect by sticking my finger down my throat. | R2x1 (4628) | ||

Of course, I am hiding behind that silly router too . . so I guess that I'm not playing fair . Generally I've had problems at LAN parties, people not being able to connect to a server, going crazy until they exit the game and find a nice window in the background saying "Windows firewall has blocked this program . would you like to unblock it?" And it generally doesn't come up straight away either - so I prefer firewalls that instantly tell you something is trying to connect somewhere, and what would you like to do rather than just block it straight away and then tell you later "oh yeah we blocked that, now you know why it wasn't working the whole time" kind of thing . |
