Most people don't like MS because it's mainstream. Sure it's slower than we'd like. And it's vulnerable security wise. But you can't honestly tell me things would be any different if Linux had the same market share. Trying to be everything to everyone on every possible platform isn't easy. |

| 683925 | 2008-06-30 23:56:00 | I am not to well up on tech matters but I feel Vista got bad press 'cause it seems like it really needs a new machine. I think my reluctance is really about why I would spend the money. In my use of Vista prior to its release, it had some features I liked, others I didn't. But it didn't have any that really made me go "wow". To me it's a not-quite-decent enough upgrade, and I'm unwilling to spend money to take advantage of the those features that are superior to XP. Also, although my own desktop PC would run it well, the missus's desktop would be less happy without me spending some more money. I'm actually one of those who would be more likely to go for a new OS that is a radical change - as Win95 was - than an incremental change at this point. Not that Win7 will be that OS, but I feel I'm not really losing by skipping Vista and waiting till Win7. |

They all have it but Vista is so much worse. And in its as-is install, it won't allow you to uninstall all the bundled crap you don't want. Services - look at how many of the damn things there are - and huge numbers of them you don't want. I couldn't care less about its appearance............ |

| 683930 | 2008-07-01 01:36:00 | I'm running XP on my work PC and we have no intention of changing to Vista any time soon. Some of the guys here have tried Vista on their home machines, and have really tried to like it, but have gone back to XP after running into one too many problems. I don't have any specifics of the problems, but it's obvious that Vista isn't for everyone. I have an MSDN subscription so I have licenses for XP and Vista, yet I'll continue to use XP. Like some others have already mentioned, there isn't really any worthwhile advantage of moving to Vista. |
