| 684842 | 2008-07-03 03:02:00 | Truck drivers protesting on behalf of the couriers? that doesn't make much sense. Courier firms move packages between cities on trucks, so they are affected, as is the entire economy, Everything in this country goes by road, so expect to feel the hit, Road user charges go into the consolidated fund and are then spent wherever the communist scum see fit. NZ has just been hit by a tax increase. Bizarre thing to do in an election year.... :groan: I guess they're counting on the masses (read: unthinking Labour supporters) not to see it for what it is and not to realise that it's going to hit them in the pocket as much as the 'rich pricks' earning more than $40K p.a. Unless Labour have changed their philosophy from "we know best" to "kamakazi"??? One can but hope!!! :) |

| 684844 | 2008-07-03 04:25:00 | Labours mindset is jammed in this rut where they burden the workers and businesses to prop up a minority section of society, they cripple us by spending billions on the rail, And then burden us even further by obscene taxes on business. Meanwhile record payout are being made........ This is a disaster taking place all around us, Their will be a pay-off, that payoff is called recession, and it will hit hard. |

| 684845 | 2008-07-03 14:24:00 | The reason Rail Freight is unpopular for general merchandise is that goods still have to be moved by road at each end, and consequently rail freight carries more handling costs, is not as fast door to door, and on past history suffered more damage and pilferage than door to door road freight. The socialist mindset is to tax vehicle use at every opportunity, ignoring that every increase in transport costs get handed on in the price of goods, thus increasing inflation, wage pressures, and of course this is then dealt with by pushing up interest rates to curb the very inflation that the Government created |

F.... there is just not a swear word invented yet that could describe my hatred for the guv. If that were the case why would Labour start taxing now so that the next government would have more money? Do you really think that this Government has done something to you that the next Government won't? |

Do you really think that this Government has done something to you that the next Government won't? With that logic nothing would get done . Deal with the 'now' then maybe the future may get better . They are all a pack of ******s anyway . All of them . Useless . Id love it if they proved me wrong . |

| 684850 | 2008-07-03 22:42:00 | From the Herald "Mr Duynhoven scoffed at a suggestion by Mr Williamson that it could push up the running cost of a 20-tonne truck by $56,000 a year. "I am advised that for that figure to be even remotely possible, the most common type of 20-tonne truck would need to travel at an average of 330km/h - that is, over 200 miles an hour, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. What utter twaddle." " (Williamson is the genius who will save Broadband :D ) For a 20 tonne trunk the extra RUC is about 2c per km. Slowing down to 90kph would save more than enough to cover that. |
