Ask anyone who has a Mac if they think they are overpriced and if they would ever change back and that includes previously dedicated Windows users who have switched.

A lot of Mac users haven't used XP and Vista for any time at all or for an extended amount of time but that doesn't mean you guys ever ****.

684723 2008-07-03 04:04:00 I have XP Pro installed - I never need to use it. vitalstatistix (9182)
684724 2008-07-03 04:05:00 Would you know any decent MAC's then? A bit of a rush since anything is really better than my old one, and will hopefully be looking at some this weekend.

Gtg now anyway, thanks in advance for the comments and advice.

Have you tried Apple refurbished?

That is where you are wrong beeswax34 most mac users do have to use Windows, it is kind of hard to avoid them.
I use Vista and XP every day as well as OS X
Any comments I make are based on actual experience as distinct to comments about macs made by some people who have never even touched one.

Touching a Mac and actually using one at a proficent level are classed as two different things and I would doubt that beeswax would qualify for the latter. Mind you he probably wouldn't want to get within 10m of a Mac if he could help it :p

Is this at the WMG school for mac freaks?

I heard your dog came head of the class the last 3 years running. Followed closely by the toaster.

In an ideal world, neither would I. :p

But I can use one pretty well. And do on almost a daily basis.

There's nothing inherently wrong with Macs - they are just too expencive and limited IMO. Although they work well for people who just want the basics.

I don't really dislike Macs, It's the fanboys (such as yourself) who get under my skin.

Hows that for constructive criticism? ;)

Amazingly balanced.

I'm waiting to hear from metla... although I think he has the good sense to steer away from these types of topics. Wish I did

Aside from obviously not legally being able to build one which I have never had any intentions of doing - I would have to disagree with your opinion that they are "limited" which is why I noted the proficient user ability in my previous post. Its only if you lack proficiency that OS X is limited but then Windows would be limiting too. So aside from the price part of your argument which is partially warranted in NZ at least. However, if you are in the right sort of job the investment in hardware is relative to your revenue flow.

That being said, I would predict that the iPhone, iTouch and possibly a tablet of some description will be come the next affordable low power platform based on the amount of developers that are being attracted to the iPhone SDK. Even Microsoft appears to be feeling the pinch according to this article in the Sydney Morning Herald
