685000 2008-07-03 20:51:00 Big chunk of the Southern Motorway closed here in Dunedin - Police obviously trying to pre-empt any snarl ups, by diverting traffic through the burbs .

Still got to work bang on time!! :banana

Oh wait . . . . . it's work :annoyed:

Must say it's not affecting mot. :p

Although I didn't see any trucks on the way to work, they must all be over in Nelson.

685002 2008-07-03 21:50:00 The clearest roads you can imagine in Wellington. Got here in record time.

Apparently the trucks got caught behind commuter traffic, so they didn't get to hold anyone up.

They're going to Parliament to protest, but all the MP's have friday's off.

So the whole thing's been a bit of a failure here. Muppets that they are.

685003 2008-07-03 21:54:00 I got to Gore at 20 to 9 and coming from the 100km zone into the 70km zone, suddenly I'm stopped! Then proceeded into the main part in 2nd gear. First time in over 2 years I've done that.

I've counted around 48 trucks, can't be bothered counting more, they are currently going round and round.

Gore, for those who don't know, is a bit like Henderson in Auckland, so it is a reasonable crowd.

685004 2008-07-03 21:57:00 Apparently it's a bit messy on the way into Nelson itself. wratterus (105)

685009 2008-07-03 23:42:00 No . . a truckers' day off?

The govt raised the road user charges the other day without warning, and the truckers are protesting by all driving together into town centres and clogging up the roads .

Looked like chaos, but was really tame here in welly
