Initially I thought it was a rip-off too but having dealt with brain-injured people, it can take a lot of time and care to ensure they understand the advice they are receiving. Also seemed like the firm had tried to explain and the client had agreed to the fees for the case at the beginning. FYI lawyers, doctors, engineers, architects, accountants etc all work on very high hourly rates. In fact so do plumbers and electricians these days - good on them. The rates reflect the cost of years of education and the expenses of running a business. In my career I have seen the number of professional people grow and they all seem to earn a living - and even more overseas. |
