| 813643 | 2009-09-25 04:16:00 | www.bleepingcomputer.com An important quote from the above webpage This incarnation of AV 360 also uses more powerful techniques in order to keep it from being uninstalled. First, it will terminate popular anti-malware programs such as MalwareBytes' Anti-malware so that you cannot use them to remove this program. Therefore, in order to remove the program you must first terminate it's running process before you can use many anti-malware applications. Total Security also hijacks your Internet Explorer browser so that you cannot visit well known anti-malware sites such as BleepingComputer.com. It does this by automatically redirecting you when you visit one of these blacklisted sites to a warning page saying that the site you are visiting will be harmful. This technique is easily overcome by using a different browser such as Firefox, Safari, Opera, or Chrome. |

| 813644 | 2009-09-25 05:07:00 | hey so i tried to download that stuff and open hijacks but it doesnt let me do any of this stuff... am i screwed??? | butters575 (14104) | ||
| 813645 | 2009-09-25 05:42:00 | hey so i tried to download that stuff and open hijacks but it doesnt let me do any of this stuff... am i screwed??? I love these. They look hard but are so easy. Boot into safe mode then run HJT first, run through the list and if in doubt post it here for Speedy - choose Safe Mode with Networking so you can still post. Then fater that run MalwareBytes. Stay in safe mode, also download and run Spybot as well. |

| 813646 | 2009-09-25 12:08:00 | Did you do this first? It does this by automatically redirecting you when you visit one of these blacklisted sites to a warning page saying that the site you are visiting will be harmful. This technique is easily overcome by using a different browser such as Firefox, Safari, Opera, or Chrome. Then this? # Before we can do anything we must first end the Total Security process so that it does not interfere with the cleaning process. To do this we must first download and install a Microsoft program called Process Explorer. Normally, we would have you use the Windows Task Manager, but this rogue will disable the ability to run it. Please download Process Explorer from the following link and save it to your desktop.......... follow all the instructions on the webpage in my last post, and you should be able to download and run the anti-malware software; if you dont stop Total Security from running, hey so i tried to download that stuff and open hijacks but it doesnt let me do any of this stuff...this will happen. It may help to do this from Safe Mode (press F8 (usually) when rebooting and select Safe Mode With Networking on the screen that appears, press Enter), though I would assume Total Security will run in safe mode too . You should be able to recover your system if you're determined enough but it may be easier/quicker to save your data and reinstall Windows (dont forget drivers etc will also be needed). |
