813401 2009-09-24 10:38:00 Hey guys and gals,

I'm in desperate need of another PCI-E x1 slot in my current setup. Only one thing to do... NEW MOTHERBOARD!!! I am currently using an ASUS M2N68-AM (my.asus.com) and am looking at upgrading (ever so slightly) to one of these: ASUS M4N78-SE (my.asus.com). What I want to know is, will all of the stuff from my current motherboard, fit straight into the new one???
If anyone can help me it would be very much appreciated. I would rather I found out it wasn't compatible before buying it!! (I'm buying from TradeMe BTW so I wont be able to ask at the shop lol)

Cheers.

813403 2009-09-24 19:49:00 You will need a re install of Windows, or (linux) depends which you use as the mobo drivers will be different gary67 (56)

Probably he won't.

I swapped my friends A8N-VM CSM (AMD) board for a P5B (Intel) and booted straight into her existing XP install.

It straight away started updating drivers, I left the Windows wizrads and ran the driver CD install, rebooted and it was all perfect.

ASUS boards are great like that.

Worth trying anyway.

x2, more than likely you won't have to do anything other than maybe running the new driver disk through .

AMD/Asus are very forgiving with this type of thing .
