| 686278 | 2008-07-08 07:27:00 | I just saw the 3 news item on Vodafone - apparently it is being marketed as an exclusive phone which "justifies" the price -:lol: What a complete load of unadulterated CRAP. :badpc: This should be interesting "geekzone has a bunch of Kiwis planning to get in line at the opening in Auckland NZ pretending to be going to buy and then then when the door opens protest by not going in. The TV channels will be there to see the opening and see this protest. Now that means people are REALLY pissed off. Kiwis dont tend to do this sort of thing." |

Or is it the price of the whole setup the problem, after your big leadup. Obviously apple are getting a % of Vodaphone's price plan. What did you expect to happen. Ken |

Obviously apple are getting a % of Vodaphone's price plan. What did you expect to happen. Ken Its not the product I'm putting down kenj  its Vodafones outrageous pricing which judging by the 12+ pages of angry potential iPhone customers on the NZ Herald website is waaaaay far of the mark. Apple don't get a cut of the monthly subscription - that was part of their old plan which has since changed. Originally they were going to get the revenue from the sale as well as a +- 10% cut of the monthly rental as well as sales from the iPhone app store and iTunes. Now the plan has changed. Apple sells the iPhone to the telco at FULL price, telco subsidises the phone to the customer and then makes up the difference with the subscription revenue which if on a halfway reasonable plan (NOT Vodafones ) should bring in a substantial amount for the telco, and, obviously with a reasonable purchase price, attract a LOT of new and existing customers again NOT Vodafone  Apple still gets the revenue from the App store but not so much in NZs case because not so many Kiwis will want to buy the iPhone or use the RIP OFF data packages. To summarize - BIG cock up from VODAFONE. |

| 686285 | 2008-07-08 08:19:00 | In my opinion, the $80 a month plan is a pretty good plan. You get good value for your money. As an entry level plan the cost is prohibitive though. Most people aren't will to pay that much per month regardless of whether they can afford it or not, especially given the fact many iPhone purchasers are likely to be higher data users than voice users and the plans don't reflect this. You should at least have the option to buy without a voice plan. | maccrazy (6741) | ||

I was expecting more data for that kind of price..... I would have thought that for $250 a month you would get a $l0w-job from the sale guy every month :-) |
