2008-07-08 16:51:00 | Personally I would never buy an "i" anything. I would also never buy a brand name IBM compatible computer for similar reasons.

2008-07-08 19:06:00 | Apple has pulled the iPhone from Rogers in Canada because their plans are too expensive - maybe they should do that here :) That would make Vodafone look real good. www.appleinsider.com out_iphones.html

2008-07-08 21:08:00 | Why get a device that costs up to $6000 over two years when I already have 3 PCs, two GPS's, an MP3 player and a phone? | pcuser42 (130) | |
2008-07-08 21:11:00 | I would not bother to get one as I am just a basic mobile phone user. But their plan costings would certainly put me off. Indeed they are showing up Vodaphone in a very bad light. As the price gougers they and Telecom are. I cant wait till Econet come here with the 3rd mobile network as I will be one of the first to signup with them.

2008-07-08 21:40:00 | Everyone is screaming blue murder at Vodaphone regarding the plan charges. I agree, horrendous, ridiculous are 2 words that come to mind. No one has commented on apple's part in this game. It was reported in June that the new 3g iphone cost US$173 to manufacture. Pretty narrow magin when sold at NZ$199. In fact, around a $28 loss with the US$ at NZ$0.76c Now, someone tell me (with a straight face, and their hand on their heart) that the phone companies are not doing payola to apple. Thereby copping all the flak over the matter. Perhaps the flak should be shared by apple? Or am I just a silly old coot? Would prefer WMG/VS not to reply. He is paranoid about this and is just ranting, desperately trying to cover for his beloved icompany and his predictions pre apple/Vodaphone's price release. He even started to PM me on the matter, till I asked him to go away. I feel he is incapable of intelligent comment at present. So, please, someone else's comment please. Ken

2008-07-08 22:00:00 | As with printer manufacturers making most if not all their profit from the paper & ink used, I'd expect that most mobile networks make their profits from the plans sold not the hardware. Apple's prices for the iPhone are the same all over the world so the plans offered show the networks profit margins not their costs. For once everyone can see which companies are rip off merchants as the various plan prices are available online from all over the world. Vodafone's excuse that the plan costs are similar for other phones just underlines Rip Off for all not just the iPhone.
