686248 2008-07-08 04:10:00 I wonder why apple haven't released a 32GB one, when they do have a 32GB touch. I notice Paul has been very quiet, maybe he is not impressed either, although he won't admit it.

And you think some of my posts get a hard time :D I hope he is not impressed - those prices are Muntlandish! This'll go straight down the gurgler.

Some people will still buy it, and maybe they will even have a line of people waiting for it. However in 6 months they will probably regret they got it.

686252 2008-07-08 04:40:00 Yes the pricing is high. But with any phone that is subsidized your locked into a contract. What are the plans like compared to vodafones other data plans and telecoms?
Apparently you can get it on a you choose contract without the subsidy.
This post is a pointless exercise since I won't be getting one

Vodafone pay these media companies a lot of money in advertsing dollars, so I would expect to see some restraint by the media of any critism of them.

I can imagine the Vodafone PR dept willl be having a rushed meeting to come up with a PR spin to "explain" the major cock-up. Something NZ companies need to get to grips with in the Web 2.0 era - bad news like ripoff pricing snowballs online.

Update - the Herald responses are running at 11 pages and growing.

Maybe it was all part of a plan to have these joke prices, as a PR stunt. They could then be releasing updated cheaper pricing on thursday, to make them look like the good guys for listening to public feedback. Hey they backed down on the locked phones(albeit after the commerce commission sent them a warning letter), so anythings possible.

686256 2008-07-08 05:00:00 If it is supposed to be a joke - I would say that we are laughing at them:groan: not with them. vitalstatistix (9182)
686257 2008-07-08 05:00:00 I note that on the heralds homepage it states

Everybody's angry at Vodafone's iPhone pricing plan… More

So it looks like they are going to get a major grilling. Pauls going to be a busy man explaining things.

One of the good things about the iphone pricing, is that it allows NZ's mobile costs to be comapred to the rest of the world, and it just shows how much NZer's are overcharged. I mean NZs iphone rates must be the worst in the world. I am sure Apple will not be impressed by this bad coverage, as it reflects very badly on Apple, and they may force them to change their pricing.
