686228 2008-07-08 00:57:00 It's a relief to finally know that I can't afford one. Thanks Apple and Vodafone!
I'm off to TradeMe to see if anyone is trying to sell a quality phone I can upgrade to...

I have a crappy phone you could upgrade to.

686230 2008-07-08 01:02:00 Has anyone seen the Samsung Omnia (http://samsungomnia.com/)?? Looks like it could be a nice alternative. . .and Nokia are working on a similar concept, although I wouldn't expect to see it down under anytime soon. nofam (9009)
686231 2008-07-08 01:09:00 That is the pricing strategy of a monopoly, which figures since they are the only provider in NZ capable of offering the iphone ATM. The prices are even higher than what Canadians are being charged, and they are totally outraged, and are backlashing againest Rogers. I hope people show their dissatisfaction by not lining up for one. For $250 per month I would expect unlimited calling, unlimited txt, and unlimited data usage. No wonder they waited until the last minute to release the pricing. I hope telecoms pricing is going to be far better.
People who think that the phone is only $199 are kidding themselves, you are really paying the phone on hire purchase, due to you being locked into a long term contract. Because it is not really a business phone, and businesses are the main people who could afford the plans, I don't know who they are marketing the iphone to. Personally think it is an example of a global company shafting NZers.

686232 2008-07-08 01:10:00 I have a better alternative.

It's slick, black, cost $120, almost indestructable, and it calls and texts.

And nothing else.

For anything else, I have a camera, an iPod, and a Laptop. There's no need to have a compromised amalgam of the above in the one gadget.
