686130 2008-07-08 17:16:00 In the event you have Office pro did it come with Publisher?

If so then you can make a site using that for example.

I have done this and it still works.

PM me Poppa John if you want to know more.

No charge.

PJ, should you go down the route of learning HTML from scratch, I have an ebook here "Complete idiots guide to creating an HTML webpage" if ya want.
As I read through it, I had notepad open and was able to create a very basic webpage just using the examples (of course its better to try each different line of code as you read the relevant section)

PM if interested (its in pdf format) and I will copy to disc and send (or upload to a host site if you on broadband)

686132 2008-07-08 22:16:00 I did look at NVU & Komposer amongst others. They all seem to have the same fault. They assume that you know what you are doing.

Think of it as Word.
Place cursor on text, delete, type new text. Click Save.

686133 2008-07-08 22:33:00 I’m a bit interested in this one as well.

I recall reading about 10 or more years ago that the best way to build a Web Page was to find one you liked and just copy it.

Then just edit the wording or content.

Does this still apply? I would have thought people like Press F1 would have taken steps to stop anyone copying their layout?

Anyway, I’ll watch this thread with interest. :)

686134 2008-07-08 23:52:00 Due to apparent complication I have lost interest,especially as I don't need one.
But good luck to all those who feel a need.

Thats what Templates allow you to do - you are not copying, you have the basics already done for you, you just edit the test and pics.
Easy. And legal.

686136 2008-07-09 01:15:00 I have done the Main Page of a site & am in the process of trying to upload it here.

I can already hear the howls of laughter at my first feeble attempt. Don't be drinking near the computer is all.

686137 2008-07-09 04:18:00 PJ - I know about as much as you so when I got back from India, I set up my own page in Google Page Creator. wforrest001.googlepages.com

It was easy and once I'd stumbled through the first page, I had enough confidence to set up more pages using different templates provided by Google, and linked all the pages together.

This may be a bit simplistic for what you want - no password protection, but it certainly did the job for me.

To begin, you need a gmail address.
