You may not be able to have private areas. There are free alternatives you may consider such as MySpace.com, Facebook.com, Google Sites, Blogger.com etc. Have had a look at some templates. Hoping to get a small free website with Orcon, our ISP. It will be interesting to see what they offer. PJ. |

You know all you will get from Orcon is maybe hosting & thats all. Also if you are unable to get hosting with Orcon, let me know :) |

| 686124 | 2008-07-07 22:02:00 | The easiest way would be to get a template - make it css. Then using something Like Kompozer or NVU, you edit it. Type in your stuff, paste pictures, etc. Keep a copy of each page as you work on it in case of stuff-ups. |

Type in your stuff, paste pictures, etc. Keep a copy of each page as you work on it in case of stuff-ups. I did look at NVU & Komposer amongst others. They all seem to have the same fault. They assume that you know what you are doing. When we were babies & small children, we learnt by watching & copying. Nobody sticks a book in a babies hand & says, 'It's all in there get on with it'. Can you remember your first computer, how nervous you were with it? How much easier it was to understand when someone showed you what to do? After a little while you were away laughing. So it is with many anew project. It is just getting a foot in the door. I am sure I will crack it. Like the buxom kiwi girl with the long blond hair said on TV about shampoo, "It won't happen straight away but it will happen". PJ |

| 686126 | 2008-07-07 22:34:00 | It might be fun to try and do it with HTML... It would almost certainly give a better result. I learnt HTML on a site called HTMLDog (www.htmldog.com), which I found really good. And it teaches you how to use CSS at the same time. |

| 686127 | 2008-07-08 08:50:00 | Ask some good questions PJ,like you I don't have a clue,so will watch and learn with interest . I think this is something that a lot of us would like to try . It DOES seem to be complicated . Some of you may think not . But . When did you last learn another language? Was that easy? This is another language . There seems to be no other way than to knuckle down & learn html . And that is where we fail . Cannot keep it up . Purists say that WYSIWYG is not the way to go . All well & good if you are a professional . Sooner or later somebody is going to invent a genuinly simple way to build a Website . Roll on . PJ :help: |
