| 685825 | 2008-07-06 07:46:00 | This is correct. Under the CGA it is up to the discretion of the retailer to replace or repair the product. If you are not happy with there decision you can take it further with the disputes tribunal. :) That is right. The only thing I can say is "Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate" Ken |

| 685826 | 2008-07-06 07:54:00 | Just a word to the wise: don't start threatening the CGA unless things start to go bad with negotiations. Keep that ace up your sleeve. Retailers often get a bit antsy in if you launch into them with the CGA straight away... | johcar (6283) | ||

As per Somebodys previous post, which quoted the CGA as below If the problem is a serious one (the goods are unsafe, substantially do not meet acceptable quality, fitness for particular purpose, description or sample), you can choose to: * return (reject) the goods and get your money back, or * return the goods for a replacement of similar value and type (if the goods are reasonably available as part of the supplier's stock ), or * keep the goods and have the price reduced to make up for its drop in value. |

DSE should fix it, - they wont personally - it would be sent back to Acer for repair, it but under the CGA the retailer has to be given the chance to fix it esp after 4 months - A faulty DVD drive is not serious, not like some ones going to die because of it. It also depends on the retailer / Manager of DSE, he ( assuming its a he) may also decide to offer a refund. No point going in " guns Blazing" - simply state you are not happy about it and would like your money back, or a different make from the shop. |

I still go by what I have said as I have been there and done that as per advice from Consumer which I'm a member of. :) |

I've had my Acer Laptop which I sold to my brother for over two years. My Acer monitor over a year. No problems. *to(u/r)ch wood* |
