2008-07-09 18:02:00 | I've seen a couple of friends on the Street-View that is running on Google Maps . It's kinda kewl to see them there . . but this raises a question: Are YOU A Googlie Too? For some reason, Hemet and San Jacinto has had most, if not all the streets sent to the great Google Puter in the sky . . . look for yerselfs here ( . imagef1 . net . nz/files/Hemet_SanJac_SS2 . bmp" target="_blank">www . imagef1 . net . nz) .

2008-07-10 02:55:00 | Yep I see it! I think only some parts of the USA have been google mapped for street view so far . Couldn't get anything in the UK or Australia or NZ . I checked out Wakefield Street in Wanganui 4500 and saw that although it wasn't in STREET VIEW, I could see the back yards of the homes and some of the roof lines . When you click on Google Maps, you've gotta zoom in a few bars to get the VIEW part running first . Then you can see which streets are mapped . One very noticeable thing is the ability to pan the scenes and I can even figure out if they were going in one direction or another by the placement of the cars in the intersections . Noticed too that some appear to run backwards and some go forward . Try this one and see the smoke from the fires all around us . This is the main intersection in Hemet and it's full sunlit and yet all the cars have their headlamps on . C/P it into your Google Maps browser . State Street and Florida Street, Hemet, CA If you twist or pan around on the intersection, you'll see a long-ish, low red tile roof and under it is our train station . . . long defunct though . . . it's now just a museum and coffee shop . The van with the red and blue stripes is a US Postal van . But you will see the smoke and judging from the angle of the shadows and the height of them, it was taken just a few weeks ago at about 10AM on a weekday because of all the traffic . Try to navigate North up State Street to see the town . The first street you'll come to that crosses, is Latham street and I have a vid of it as I drove along in my Isuzu last year or so . The prices on the gas station boards shows about $3 . 48/gallon and that was about right for my timetable guess . I also just noticed you can use your cursor keys to navigate a lot better than your mouse . I was just looking in Fort Collins, Colorado for my sister-in-law's home and found a full view of it too . My places in Arizona aren't yet . . but they're coming . Funny how almost all the streets here in Hemet are mapped . I wish the security gate to our place was opened when they did the drive-by so you could see inside of it though! I've checked out a lot of my friends and places where I lived once upon a time or two . Dang! This is fun! I'm gonna cruise around and see if I can find any of my vehicles on the streets I normally inhabit and drive and I'll post that if I find one, later .

I can find my house ok in Taupo and other friends and family around the country, its just that the resolution isn't as good in some places as others. I find it quite easy to navigate around and see things. It sure is a lot of fun! I'll have a look at State and Florida Sts now. |

2008-07-10 04:32:00 | I'm noticing that as I travel West on Florida Street I can see a seasonal change. Now I see the week or two before last Christmas with the street decorations up and the X-mas tree lots selling dead trees.

2008-07-10 04:32:00 | I think those pics were taken at different times of the day, because the red car is turning right at the intersection by the Pizza place and if you move further up it has gone! | lakewoodlady (103) | |
