686737 2008-07-09 07:11:00 I was asked if there were any support groups for people addicted to online games or have children who are addicted to online games, but a quick google search didn't turn up anything.

Is there anything like that? Has anyone here had any experience in dealing with someone who has a runescape or other online game addiction?

:D That's what my mum did when I was ~12 and was addicted to Runescape. We had no connection for a whole year! I was angry with her, for it was very harsh but I got over it and at 18 can look at what a huge favour she had done for me back then. Online games can get very addictive and if you get into them too much, you can start to forget the real world :xmouth:

Don't know of any support groups, and if you need the internet yourself then that above solution is no good . Doesn't Vista offer some sort of control for what times they can use the computer? Then you can maybe allow for an hour a day and only after homework.

Doesn't work. (Personal experience here). I would just pop into an internet cafe or a friends place.

Or get them interested in a sport, musical instrument or hobby.

I was 23 when I put my mind to find other hobbies. And that was exactly what I tried out. Finding other hobbies. I tried a few things, but meeting people who had no interest in games (both online and offline) worked for me. I was forced to do other things.

I realise this won't work for children, but I wasn't sure what Greven's post was aimed at. Is Greven trying to get help, or concerned for others?

My eldest son(11) is a runescape player, even has a payed account. Plays a everyday. But is also highly active, plays sport in the weekend and has practice a couple of times a week. I don't find it much of a problem as I see he has a lot of other interest.

686746 2008-07-09 10:50:00 A good decent eye gouge normally stops people. You have 2 chances!

Ok, I would probably disconnect the net, take away the router or something like that.
