686433 2008-07-08 04:34:00 It's been a while since I've posted here, so I thought I'd say hello. I flew to America on the 1st of June and have been having a great time.

I'm living (for free of course) with the family of a friend of mine who went to NZ for 8 months after he finished high school (same as I'm now doing) and stayed with a family I know. Not sure if that makes any sense or not.

I've very successfully running my business from afar (struck a deal with a company to have them do the warehousing services for me), until today, when TradeMe informed me that they don't want me selling stuff while overseas! They closed my account and I now have no income apart from repeat customers. Good thing I have savings. My mum also managed to sell my car for me (albeit for more than $1000 less than I paid 11 months ago).

It's summer here and the days are 90-98 F (36+ C) and set to get much hotter. Nice change from Wellington. I'm living in Moody, Alabama (near Birmingham). The house is awesome, it has a huge pool.

So far I have been on a trip to the beach in Panama City, Florida, and another one to St Simons Island, Georgia with the family I live with.

I saw my first snake ever a few weeks ago :p. A lot of firsts have happened to me in the last 5 weeks. There's a lot here we have never heard of.

Anyways, just thought some of you might like to hear what had become of me.

686434 2008-07-08 04:46:00 Get your mum to sell your products for you.

You'd still be doing everything normally, but she'd be your proxy.

Good to hear from you though. Sounds like you're having a good time over there.

I wish it was summer here... Sigh.

686435 2008-07-08 04:48:00 Good to hear that you’re having nice time over there in the USA! :D (I Hope the flight over was not too bad & getting security was not too hard)

You need to watch out for those snakes as they can kill you!!

Also keep an eye on the weather as its Hurricane & Tornado season over there at the moment.

Sorry to hear that trade me won’t let you sell stuff while you’re overseas :(

You should pop in & say hi to SurferJoe :p

I Hope you enjoy the rest of your time over there in the USA & look forward to hearing all about your time there :)

686437 2008-07-08 06:52:00 You gotten used to right turn on red? Or 4(all) way stops?

BTW, if you haven't yet been to one, go visit a Micro Center. Awesome store... Rows and rows of shelves of every computer related product you could ever imagine - and none of this consumer electronic rubbish either :D I went to one in Virginia while we were there early in our holiday (am now nearing the end of our hol). It makes Circuit City and Best Buy seem distinctly inferior in comparison.

686440 2008-07-08 08:27:00 Don't worry about the snakes . . those that CAN bite you are more afraid of you than you of them . It's the mosquitoes there that you should worry about!!!!! Watch out for "No-See-Ums" and chiggers too .

You are at least a few days travel away from me here in SoCal . We don't get humidity like you will there . . and yes . . there is a hurricane a'comin' .

If you get caught in a hurricane, there's a very few things you can do for your safety . Bend over in a low area, preferably a ditch or deep depression in the ground from the last tornado . . . grab your feet with both hands and putting your head through your legs, kiss your buttocks good-bye .

If you should fall outta the plane on the trip back to Upsidedown Land and you happen to fall over Hemet/San Jacinto, then steer for the large field near my place . It's do-able! Use your arms to hit the target . Today there's a large mound of leftover lumber from the construction in the next plot . it'll break your fall . It should be there for another week at least .

I'll pick you up then and take you to see some REAL snakes .

Seriously though . . . if you DO get near Palm Springs, call me . . send a PM and I'll give you my phone number .

Hey! I got unlimited long distance telephone rates . . I can call you!

I think the telephone can understand Upsidedown Land language . Just remember that we are at least three timezones away and although we are running on YTZ (yesterday time zone) according to NZers, we are at least on the same page, date-wise!
