| 815054 | 2009-09-29 04:36:00 | hi, i have an acer aspire 5520 laptop for two years. its slowed right down and its time i restore it back to the day i bought it. how exactly do i go about resetting it to its manufacturing settings?? i dont have an install cd as it didnt come with one, so how to reset. --cheers. |

| 815055 | 2009-09-29 05:14:00 | Most laptops these days come with a recovery partition or you are prompted to create a recovery DVD(s) when first run. It should have a recovery partition, you need to back up all data first, then you have the option to start recovery from the start menu, "eRecovery". You can also press a key combo to launch the recovery - Normally Alt + F10 key when you see the Acer splash screen - this should launch the recovery. IF it asks for a recovery password, According to Acer, the default password is: 000000 IF it doesn't have a recovery Partition, as its been damaged or deleted and you didn't make recovery DVD's you can reinstall it from fresh using a borrowed DVD from someone, using the product key on the back of the laptop. you will have to download the drivers from Acer to install those as well. |
