2009-09-26 22:00:00 | I need to send my computer from Dunedin to Wellington, but when i rang up 4 different courier companies i was astonished to find that the cheapest was $150 going right up to almost $300. Now although i might not have the smallest computer weighing in at about 20 kg and dimensions of 720x330x360mm, this still seems a ridicules price. Is there a cheaper way to send computers?

2009-09-26 23:15:00 | Purchase a seat - grab a seat $50 each way and put the case unit into cargo, keyb and mouse can be carryon. Screen get it there. That would of been my method at uni instead of using laptops which I never needed the portability. But having said that if all you do is usual stuff laptops should be fast enof even a 03/04 model with enof RAM. You can always go parcel post instead of tracking courier which may be cheaper, the insurance may be $300 only but you can top it up if you wish or forgo it. But $50 a while back for each decent size box is about right I think, for the PC box may be more ... Seriously if you send a digital camera like a SLR to Auckland via courier signature track/trace that alone might be $35NZ. The shops that offer free postage are pretty good after all but then the risk of sending it back for a RMA .......

2009-09-27 00:27:00 | Try Courier Post 2 day service. I regularly get PCs and screens sent from AucKland to South Canterbury for $20-25 Mind you 20Ks for a pc does seem a little heavy. Cheers HH

2009-09-27 03:25:00 | I send them quite often from the bottom of the SOuth - been all the way up to Auckland. Last one was Te Awamutu. WEIGH it. I'd be very surprised if it is 20KG. Most I pay is $37 from Post Haste.

2009-09-27 03:48:00 | Mainfreight estimate is just over $100 www.mainfreightprecision.co.nz based on your dimensions and weight. Is your PC case made out of armour plated steel or something like that? 20kg is a lot of weight for a PC.
