688583 2008-07-13 23:37:00 What add-ons do you use with Firefox? And what do they do?

I have:

Stumbleupon (directs you to random sites based on your preset category preferences)
AdBlock Plus (keeps most of the nasty ads at bay)
Stylish (helps block the more persistent ads on PF1 - thanks Bletch! Not it's true purpose, but that's what I use it for!!)
AI Roboform Toolbar (password manager - installed on a U3 flash drive, pops up when I plug the U3 into the PC)
Better Gmail 2 (improves the UI when using Gmail via the browser)
Fast Dial (similar to Opera's Speed Dial, but more customisable)
FireFTP (FTP client - cool, nicer and easier to use than FileZilla)
Foxmarks (keeps bookmarks synchronised between your PCs running Firefox)
Gmail Space (installed but not really explored yet - supposed to allow for file storage on Gmail)

I've been a confirmed Opera user for around 18 months, but I'm getting more and more impressed with Firefox (v3) than I have been previously, mainly because of the add-ons. Widgets are fine, but don't seem to have the broad coverage that Add-ons do...

Opera 9.51 still has a few things I haven't yet seen in Firefox (Toolbar customisability, panels, the Dragonfly functions and a few others - there may be equivalent add-ons that I haven't yet found), so in the meantime I guess I'll be a bit schizophrenic and use both browsers...

Unfortunately, as per another post I made a couple of weeks ago, I still can't access ANZ Internet Banking using Opera 9.51, or Firefox 3 (or at least I CAN access using FF3, but the Nav bar isn't available), so I still have some use for an earlier version of Opera (installed on a U3) or IE7.

688584 2008-07-14 01:14:00 I have been using Firefox for the last 3 years or so.

I do not have any add ons at present.

Great thread idea Johcar.

But that Foxmarks sounds fantastic, will be great for my Laptop !

688588 2008-07-14 03:03:00 I used to use Opera too, because I liked the speed-dial and the mouse gestures.

I started to find more and more sites wouldn't come up though, so I ditched it.

I use adblock, noscript, fast dial, and a mouse gestures one that I can't remember the name of. Can't be bothered looking for it either.

Stylish
Noscript

Same Firefox Add-Ons and settings on both XP and OSX

Font's and Color settings altered to always give me Black Text on White background (Just because it is easier for these old eyes to read).

I also use IE in XP and Safari when in OSX for some pages.

688590 2008-07-14 07:50:00 At work, I use foxyproxy & adblock plus. At home I just use adblock plus at the moment Greven (91)
688591 2008-07-14 08:04:00 Firefox has a speed dial add-on similar to the one Opera uses - see here (addons.mozilla.org). It is quite handy.

I'm still waiting for Tab Mix Plus to be compatible with Firefox 3 as it is currently disabled.

Adblock Plus is a given favourite.

Xnet Usage Monitor is cool.

The Throbber Button add-on is ... odd, but I like it.

That's all I have right now. :)

You don't find the inverse truer? (stash.ableapp.com) (Light on dark rather than dark on white)
