688540 2008-07-13 18:52:00 some idiot came in last night and stole my laptop.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the original price was for the HP ZD8000? Dad bought it quite a few years back, it was a 17" 1400x900 screen, with Pentium 4 3.2GHz (Yes, the desktop processor... it had 3 fans on the bottom :stare: ), 2GB RAM, 160GB HD and ATI 256MB X600 Mobility Radeon~~

or can anyone give an average?

Thanks.

688542 2008-07-13 23:30:00 Thats average.com.au/reallyreallygay

Sorry to hear about it.

The only cost I could figure out - lots.

If it's for insurance, they normally will want a current value, not an original value.

Give them around $2000.

688543 2008-07-13 23:45:00 If you're lucky enough to have a replacement policy, the easiest thing to do is visit a few stores and see what meets that spec today.

I was looking at replacing my 3.5 year old Tosh recently and was horrified to find that what I paid around $4K back then I can pick up today for about $1K!!! So prices have come waaay down...

I take it you didn't have anything like Orbicle installed on it?

688546 2008-07-14 11:27:00 Hi Mabix

Sorry to hear about the loss of yah lappie. Boy, there are real A***Holes around.

Can't help yah now but when you replace it or for anyone else get LOCATEPC (www.iconico.com) installed. Do it now!! Free download and service, wot yah got to lose!!

LOCATEPC once installed and set up properly is invisible so no one but you knows it there. It works by finding your IP Address. When your computer gets stolen it senses the change of IP Address and will secretly send an email to any elected email address apart from your own. From this you will are able to get full details of the new IP Address and hopefully catch the bad guys. Don't know if it works in real life but sure beats doing nothing!!
