I was at an office yesterday, two PCs printing to a Bizhub C350. One is XP and prints fine.
The other is a Win 2k box, and won't print at all...now. It was printing but she was having issues with some PDFs so I thought I'd just update the ancient driver she had, as you do.
However now she can't print at all and the old print driver has disappeared.
When she tries to print (printer is networked) the job goes through, it leaves the system tray on her win2k box and at the printer it says the job is coming...the actual message is "receiving" and then nothing happens. I can't delete the job and I have to kill the power to the printer to kill the job.

I have tried:
Stopping and restarting print spooler service
Remving the printer entirely and adding it again, including remving the TCP/IP port and setting it up again, including removing the port from Server Properties under Printers.
Have double-triple checked her settings (RAW, IP address and subnet etc) against the Win XP pc that is going fine.
Downloaded manuals etc from Konica's website - no help.
Logging in through web interface - which is fine, but no help.
Obviously I can ping the printer, and all network settings look good.

I'm at my wits end - am going to call Konica today, but any other advice out there?

Cheers and thanks

815598 2009-09-30 20:13:00 Look in event viewer in 2K (if it has it / cant remember if it has it or not). See what the errors are (under application or system). The updated drivers probably dont work with 2k, or something Speedy Gonzales (78)

Yeah sorry I forgot to add that to my "I've tried" list. Nothing in event logs at all, just indications where I've deleted the printer and added it again, no mention of driver issues at all.

I'm leaning towards a printer issue but she was printing fine, the XP box can print fine etc. But since the print job leaves her PC totally and goes to the printer, not sure if it is a PC issue. But then again she was printing fine before. Such fun....

815600 2009-10-02 00:24:00 Futher to this (if anyone has any more clues than I) _ I've upgraded the PC to Win XP...same problem.

I've tried multiple drivers as per instructions from Konica, tried multiple variations of LPR/RAW, replaced the network cable, tried generic PS drivers, tried generic HP 5Si driver, etc etc...it still refuses to print to the network printer. Interestingly Konica says LPR must be used with a name of 'port1' - however both other XP PCs are on RAW and work fine.

Log viewer shows nothing at all (as far as errors go) to do with printing or print drivers.

Same issue - the control panel on the printer says "recieving" and just stays like that.

Any other ideas? I'm losing what little hair I have left!

815601 2009-10-02 01:00:00 Share the printer on the XP that works and print to that? fred_fish (15241)
815602 2009-10-02 01:14:00 That was a thought but the other two are laptops which are not there all the time...bummer huh. FAB (6923)
815603 2009-10-02 01:21:00 Might help pin down the problem tho' fred_fish (15241)
815604 2009-10-02 01:28:00 Not really _ I know it will work if it just uses a shared printer...I'm thinking it's not a driver issue (since I've tried heaps) but more something in the network side - although the print job leaves the system tray, the printer is not getting something from the packet to say it's the end. I don't know...cuold be an angle. FAB (6923)
815605 2009-10-02 02:03:00 Maybe log the network transactions with wireshark or smartsniff & play spot-the-difference :) fred_fish (15241)
815606 2009-10-02 02:24:00 Good idea - just got to find the time to get back there now.
Cheers
