| 815379 | 2009-09-29 23:45:00 | An acquaintance is getting this error when he starts his computer: i will try and give u a rundown of my biggest problem and see if u understand what is happening. When i turn my comp on i get a blue screen with the words "one of your discs needs ckecking, volume serial No isof4c-13f2", then it takes about 30min checking the system before it will start up. It comes up with line after line of (sample) Found 009/file1019.chk. first allocation unit is not valid, the entry will be truncated. Then it goes on and on repeating the same sequence but with the numbers changing, each time saying the entry will be truncated, hope you follow all that. Does anyone know what is happening and a cure? Thank you. |

Get the UBCD (www.ultimatebootcd.com). Do a HDD test (manufacturers, if it wont go try the older Seatools or IBM/Hitachi) and also do a memory test. My suspicion would be the hard drive is failing, running those diags through will confirm the issue (or lack thereof) and you can go on from there. |
