Of course any Law is as good as the policing and enforcement of it and the determination of Politicians and Judiciary to ensure the laws of the land are enforced. Its this latter aspect that any Consorting bans would sink.


Yep, that is exactly the problem - lack of political will. If we are very very lucky indeed this might possibly change come next election.... one must always live in hope



Some of us oldies remember an Inspector Gideon Tait who really started to sort gangs out in Auckland until the powers that be got cold feet and called him off.

I am not old enough to remember him, but I read his book "Never Back Down" a while back. A excerpt is reproduced here;

In some respests he was actually ahead of his time - had he been given his head Auckland could have had something very much like the New York zero tolerance/ broken windows 20 years before New York had it under Guiliani
