| 688765 | 2008-07-16 01:53:00 | I used to rebuild my Win 98 computer once a year, but haven't reloaded XP on either of my machines - one 4y old. I've got CCleaner set to remove all of the application temp files (EVE online logs are a hog for instance) and I do the occasiional registry repair using CCleaner. That and a periodic cleanout of rubbish progs installed for one reason or another, and spyware, do the trick. I also have WinPatrol free, which you can use to permanently kill processes and programs you don't want to start up - it's invaluable. No more Adobe Reader, no more QuickTime. Free versions of ZoneAlarm, AVG (set to manual scan only), and the usual spyware cleaners also keep the rubbish down. No probs |
