It worked for me, Sure doesn't mean it's not going to work for everyone, But I feel that Prisoners need to be shown light at the end of the tunnel as per say because with out it there is no will to reform . Punishment isn't the way . Better rehabilitation is, and a lot better Rehabilitation is what we need . Bah, wat a load of sh*t Radium . If you've done something serious enough to warrant some time in the Big House then you've either done something really BAD or you've repeatedly done something that has proved you couldn't be rehabilitated and therefore sent to prison to protect us normal people . Prison is there to provide punishment . There should be no light at the end of the tunnel for you people . You commit a crime, you go to jail . The End . You get let out when you have served your time and then its up to you to make a decision NOT TO COMMIT CRIME, otherwise you go back to jail . . . . . You reoffend, you go back to jail for a long long time . . . . Pretty simple stuff really . This rehabilitation cost us money . You pathetic crims cost us enough money already . Lets see, to pay police, to pay the justice system, to pay legal aide, to pay for prison, to pay for your appeals . Lock them up and throw away the key or just shoot them. Either way, why should we pay $30000 a year to take care of absolute ba***rds who deserve to be sent straight to Hell? After that, I agree with you, but rehabilitation is there to make sure that when people are released they never come back. It may not work 100%, but it's cheaper than keeping them in there for life. Everyone's young once, and sometimes people do bad things in bad situations, why should they not get a chance to turn around? Radium seems to have turned his life around, so an attack on him is just low. People make mistakes, but you can't judge people by what they've put behind them. Only by what they are now. When I used to work on construction sites every second person had been in prison, and I met some of the nicest, most sincere people I've ever met (I also met plenty of the other sort too). That said, I like the American "three strikes and you're out" concept. Three chances should be enough for anyone! And maybe add the Portuguese (sp?) concept: the government supply the prison and the guards. Everything else is supplied by the family: clothes, bedding, food. The ultimate in whanau support. Nothing like a bit of family pressure to make one change one's ways...	johcar (6283)

Bollocks . If you go to jail then society has deemed your crime bad enough to warrant incarceration . The idea with jail is that it is meant to be that BAD that when you leave you dont want to return . A one night stand with a minger is a mistake . Hitting a car while parking is a mistake . Knowingly doing something that breaks the law and warrants prison is a crime . Pretty simple really . As for your last comment . I can't remember the amount of times you see people on TV that have been defrauded or their kids molested etc etc by people who were "so nice and sincere" . Tell me, these nice and sincere people you talk of, would you leave your kids with them?	Veale (536)
