Because once the crims realise no one will chase them they will all drive like hell, Making the helicopter pursuit worthless. I'd suggest car mounted machine guns, Let em know that they will probably die. |

If police pursuits are ceased, you have just called open season for the crims. exactly, which will kill even more people than a few car chases will do. |

They did have a method of killing vehicle electronic systems but that also wiped out all the TVs videos computers etc etc in the area as well :D | PaulD (232) | ||

So,drongoism does exist in NZ. A chap takes your car, speeds away and kills someone. Or is stopped by the only means possible and you live and you think the stopper is criminal. |

| 687783 | 2008-07-12 05:26:00 | There have been many crashes caused by police chasing cars in city streets . There have now been two deaths resulting from police chasing cars in city streets . How many more accidents and deaths will it take before police stop this insane practice of chasing cars at excessive speeds through city streets? (160kph in this last chase!):annoyed: Police always have an excuse and the police always investigate themselves . It is about time there was some accountability . While I have much sympathy for the policeman's family, I have no sympathy for the police . The officers who pursued should take their own share of the blame - but we know they will not . They will be exonerated . "They were just doing their job . " That's no excuse!:angry Until police pursuits cease, the carnage will continue . And these people are supposed to be protecting us? :groan: Be worried, people, lest they kill someone in your street - it could be someone you know and love . Ummm . . . . are you for real? Or are you just wanting angry responses to your post? Or you just don't get it? |

Pursuit police are highly trained to handle their cars at very high speeds . And without their pursuits, you're gonna have many more dead victims in the long run . |
