That wouldn't work - people would just get bigger loans.

The price of petrol will be hurting the boy racers far more than making their cars more expensive. You can't get a loan for a tank of gas.

Copper isn't far from an oil-type crisis, I think iridium is in the same boat.

Essentially everything electronic has copper in it... so that could be an issue too. Although if we reach a global depression first I guess we won't be able to afford gadgets anymore, so that shouldn't be so much of an issue.

You can see a lot more people are cycling in Wellington over the last few years.
