688064 2008-07-12 04:32:00 Have you had a chance to use the iPhone in a public place yet and if so did you get any curious stares or glances? If you haven't yet you probably will soon :)
Have you tried posting on PF1 using the iPhone?
Were you a Vodafone customer - on account or prepay before you purchased your iPhone?
Have you got any of your music collection or photos loaded onto the iPhone yet?

have been trying to keep low profile in public :-)

PF1 gets a bit mangled due to the CSS going wrong.

was a telecome user, I got a new number.

I have 1600 song, 30 podcasts, 20 short videos.

it looks like the camara show up to windows as a standard digital camara so getting photos off the device is easy.

688065 2008-07-12 05:32:00 Does it pick up fingerprints or other marks due to it's glossy surface, and touchscreen interface?

it gets finger prints in 10 seconds after opening the box......
on the upside you get a little black polishing cloth :-)

688069 2008-07-12 07:07:00 I only ask as it seems awfully alot to pay for a phone. Each to their own I guess. rob_on_guitar (4196)

it is a lot for a phone, for 80% of people a $199 phone will do what they need.
I am a geek and want the new toys.

its not that much to pay for high end phones, a N95 or blackberry will set you back $1400.

some people smoke, some drink, some bet on horses, I buy tech toys.

I think the real answer that Apple has put the UI/Hardware design of the iPhone together better than other hi end phones which is why RIMM, Blackberry, HTC, Samsung Instinct and the Google Android are all trying to copy the iPhone design but only with varying degrees of success. As a result the iPhone has now been sold out in all 21 countries that it was released in starting with NZ on Thursday night/Friday morning.

As Rob has probably found out, web surfing is easier so (3G reception permitting) he may end up doing more in due course. UI navigation is also easier. As for the monthly rental price of the iPhone...such is life I guess.<shrugs shoulders> Ideally the concept of the iPhone is that web surfing should be very easy and very cheap thus changing the traditional paradigm of the way mobile phones are used....time will tell.

if Vodafone gave more data for cheaper then I expect that would happen.
the current way of things I expect to only do web surfing on wifi.
