You are very lucky you choose to self-moderate and removed that comment. No I didn't know, wouldn't have thought you would have been interested in this thread, unless of course you are waiting for something to happen. I personally thought the comment was quite appropriate and witty, but realsied some might not see the funny side. A sense of humor seems to be lacking sometimes around here. |

Apple will do it .... in due course but I think they have more important things on their plate at the moment like designing more efficient CPUs for the iPhone |

| 687591 | 2008-07-17 10:31:00 | Why? The current one is underclocked...? A lot of the hardware that Apple puts out uses underclocked CPUs - to reduce heat output and power consumption and thus make for quieter more efficient devices. For the exact reason why they still haven't got video capabilities in the 3G iPhone - you would have to ask Steve Jobs but I am guessing that they don't regard it as a high priorty on the iPhone platform at this stage, although that doesn't mean that it is not going to be included at a later date once things like a better CPU and better battery life have been enabled since using 3G on the iPhone sucks through the battery life. Apple is also looking at getting major market pentration with the iPhone which is why they are releasing it in so many countries and getting developers to put their apps on the Apps store. Apple recently bought PA Semi for $273 million, PA Semi designs PPC CPUs but doesn't fab them- why did Apple buy them? www.roughlydrafted.com What you have to remember is that unlike MS, Apple/Steve is thinking about 3-4 years into the future to what sort of devices we are going to be using and how we will be using them where as MS is watching Apple and Google to see what they are doing and how people are reacting to and using the devices and services/software and then trying to work out how they can implement something similar to come from behind to....<cough> win. By this stage Apple has already released that device and Google has already created that service and people have adopted both. Apple also has a whole bunch of multi touch gesture type stuff patented for possible future developments on the iPhone and other similar devices - they bought a company called Finger Works a few years ago that specializes in pinoneering and developing multi-touch technology. |

| 687594 | 2008-07-18 05:07:00 | maybe - maybe not (computerworld.co.nz) Piper Jaffray estimates sales to end users at 425,000 iPhone sales Customers looking for an iPhone 3G may have to wait up to a month for Apple to boost its orders with suppliers and refill the pipeline, a Wall Street analyst said Thursday. Meanwhile, current inventories continue to be tight at the companys retail stores, with just over a quarter of them having iPhones to sell Thursday. I bet well see these problems for another two to four weeks, said Gene Munster, analyst at Piper Jaffray & Co., referring to his estimate of the lead time necessary for Apple to increase orders from its suppliers and restock the depleted iPhone inventory. Early demand has been more than they expected [because] they knocked it out of the park on the first weekend. |

| 687595 | 2008-07-18 07:30:00 | Doesn't really matter if they don't hit the sales target for the shareholders just like most other players they will cook the books so to speak, its what global companies do to hype their products and Yes MS do it as well as Apple. People choose what they want based on what they find easiest to use or what they are told and lucky for both MS and Apple there are a lot of gullible people around. I run windows because I want to, occasionally I run Linux to do something windows wont do, I don't run apple because I like to fiddle around inside my toys not be locked out of them. P.s I agree with most of what Metla said now where did I put that article on Intel? :2cents: |
